Having trouble with engine instal
Who's got time on Sunday to pop by ellicott city and help me get my engine mated with the tranny, i am having a horrible time with it.
Spent hours trying to tickle it into place, and am having no luck
Let me know if you've got an hour or two to spare.
Thanks guys

anyone that wants to give it a shot is welcome - also people who have dropped in engines before share some advice - this is giving me a headache.
My goal is to get the engine seated with the tranny, and bolted - then i've got to go on a deployment to GA - then i'll be back on may 1st - and then i'd like to spend a few days with some knowledgable people - and get everything plugged back in...and started.
Also - anyone got some advice for that fact there is aprox 3/4 tank of 6 month old 93 octane in the tank?

takes about 1 year for gas to go bad. You can always jumper the test plug for the fuel pump with the key in the on position and just have the pump run all the gas into an empty tank, then fill her back up with some fresh fuel. FSM has the procedure to jumper it on.

Make sure you put a little grease on the tranny input shaft, and that your clutch is centered really well. Look down the center of the splines and make sure it looks centered, don't just believe that it is because you used a plastic alignment tool.
Stick the tranny in 2nd gear and apply the e-brake. Now as you line the motor up to mate with the trans stick a ratchet on the pulley to rotate the e-shaft (and clutch.) This should help the input shaft mate with the clutch. Beyond that it just takes a litle shaking to help things find their way.
Sunday should be nice out. Let me know if you need another hand and I should be able to swing by.

You should be able to just take the motor mounts off, then use your cherry picker to wiggle the motor on to the input shaft. I would try that before taking the trans out...
work smarter not harder.

When I do my engine drop ins, I bolt on pretty much everything I can to the engine, except for the UIM, take the motor mounts off (so there is ample play up/down left/right) and wiggle the cherry picker till it slides on, bolt the trans up, put the mounts back in, then drop the engine off the picker.
Somtimes I use a trans-jack to "negotiate" with the transmission

I really need your help today guys
I need to get the tranny bolted up, and then push the car into the lower parking lot (just 20 or so feet) so the neighbors don't tow it away =)
I also need to get the tranny bolted up today because that is one of the major things i'm facing that i can't really do myself...as i've found out.
I'm also going on a deployment at the end of the week, so i want to get to a good "stopping point" so to speak.
Let me know guys, and thanks a ton, i can't do it without you!
