within the first few years of me driving I'd been on probation twice, gone to 'driving school' three times, and had accumulated enought points to make it to the 'personal interview' at dmv at least once, and the group 'interview' several times..

i have learned the sense (i'd like to think) to know the when/where and how. for the most part - i keep it to the track. autocrossing and track events are a great outlet.

Next autocross is this Sunday at Pungo. Anyone else going? I think I am unless the weather is unreasonable. I need to get some tires mounted though.

Dale still doesn't ahve his car back, and in spite of what he might try to make you believe, he is an old guy.

Saturday night is our night at American Indoor Karting. Anyone going? I will be there, I might buy liquid refreshment afterwards for anyone who beats me. I am pretty sure I don't need to bring any extra money :-).

It is about as nice of a CSP prepared autocross first-gen as there is anywhere. Notice the carbs on the engine. Nicely done and no compromise all the way around. If oyu want to do it right, there is your cookbook.

Carl, you might as well use up the last of the tires you have at an autocross before you buy the new ones.

Besides, if you want choices on tires, there is no group of people better at giving you good advice on tires than the people at an autocross. They live an breathe tires. Phooka just got some Falken Azenias for his FB. They are awesomly sticky and still last a while, and are downright cheap. Check out this link. http://vulcantire.com/azenis_t.htm

I know they are not available in all sizes, but they seem to run larger than most tires of the same size. They will be my next choice.

I know I am not that fast with the karts. Anyone that goes regularly can easily wax me. I will bring money though. Just and incentive to get people to come. Jimmy, did you see the car that Charles Wright bought? He was the guy we met at the SEDIV event at ACU. That was the car I had the link to a few posts ago. It has the cookbook for a well set up CSP car.

We had a big turnout last night. At first I thought it would be small as there was just a few of us, but befor the night was out I think we had a good 20 or so people. They also had a Mustang group that met up there and a Scion group, so basically there was a lot of people at the place. I had a great time. I hope everyone else did. Then we went over to the Pizza place and BS'ed for a while more. It was a fun time had by all I think.

Calvin, you missed a great course at pungo yesterday. I was busy re-assembling my 7 all day saturday. The ES and rear steer eliminator bushings make a huge difference in the handling - i recommend them to everyone. ES had great customer service, as there were a couple incorrect bushings in the kit, and they shipped the correct ones without any fuss.

I read all the reports on autocross.us. It sounded like a good event, but I had some personal issues to attend to Sunday and could not get out there. I should be at the next one. I am glad that the event went OK.

so i did 2 360's in the jeep today on magruder and almost flipped it bt thanks to my supperior driving skills im still here and i still have a dd

hit black ice, and over corrected the steering, but midway through the spin I felt the tires lift off, and then i chose to correct the 2 wheel before the spin. i ended up in the grass median.

Renegade, you weren't the only one doing that. I was driving my RX7 home. My trip was fine, but between the end of the Monitor Merrimac bridge and the RT17 exit in Suffolk (about 2 miles) I saw 10 separate accidents and 2 were rollovers. It took my wife nearly 3 hours to get home from 25th Street in Norfolk. It is uaually a 20 minute trip with no traffic.... I am not sure if Phooka's wife ever made it home... Last we knew she was stuck in Downtown Norfolk.

Well my trip yesterday was quite crappy. It took over an hour to drive down High St. from the shipyard to Churchland Blvd. I didn't hit 2nd gear until the last 3/4 mile from the house. What made that fun was the crown in the road turned my car nearly sideways while driving at 15 mph. All I had to do was push in the clutch, and turn into the slide, but still was a little hairy for a minute. Even feathering the clutch couldn't stop me from twisting a little while trying to start from a stop.

Anyways, came home to a Summit Racing box. My stainless steel braided brake lines had come in from Russel Performance Parts. 89.88 + 8.95 handling. Too bad they're for a fricken Miata. So, had to send them back. Probly will be another month before I get the right ones in. Any case, if you guys want some from summit, the CORRECT PN is RUS-685550, Summit was off by 1 number. 81-85 RX-7 w/ rear disk is what they fit.

Anyone using the Ford high temp brake fluid? I asked a friend of mine who races a 79 T/A, a 93 Mustang, and a 95 Cobra R, and that's what he uses. I figure I'll give it a try.

the sevens very much alive again.. i have to tune it.. i got a boost controller and a new fuel pump.. cars got too much gas again GOOD!!!.. but anyways it took some people 4 hours to get off langley lastnight.. virginian road crews are dipshits thats all i can say....

Bryan, I know lots of people who have used the Ford HD brake fluid. For more info than you can possibly imagine on it co a search on this web site:

You will probably find it in the Suspension tech area. Ford HD is probably the best you can get without spending really big $$$'s on brake fluid. An RX7 is not terribly hard on brakes (First-gen that is) so unless you are running a 300 HP or so engine that will work just fine for you. I use Castrol LMA and sometimes the Valvoline Synthetic and they work fine at VIR and Summit Point. Some sort of simple brake cooling ducts (nothing drastic is needed) will be about all you would need for track events. Good pads like the Hawk HP+ or the Porterfield R4S are about all you need for our cars at track events. You might get a little better performance from higher performance (track only) pads at much greater cost, but the differance is not worth the extra cost for everyone except the most competitive racers.

Biskit.... Give the VA road crews a little bit of a break. It was a tough call yesterday. The snow was going to happen, and it was cold an windy. If they had put down salt and sand earlier in the day, they wind (it was windy) would have blown 95% of it away leaving very little on the roads when the snow finally stuck. It would have also cost much more (those are my and your tax dollars that would have blown away in the wind there). You have to admit we don't get the pratice at all that stuff like they do in other colder areas. If you like their way better, live in a colder place. Me, I'd rather have winters more like last week when it was 75 degrees.

Hey, just wanted to say whats up........my name is Dustin, I recently bought a 2004 RX8, red with the sport touring package and exterior upgrades, M6 and navigation.......car is awesome, I plan on autocrossing it............i don't know too much about Rotaries.....but i do know cars.....so i'll learn quick !!!
