I got my Grassroots Motorsports calendar in the mail yesterday. It is partially sponsored by Mazda and has a first gen RX7 on one of the calendar pictures. It is the car that ran in the SCCA runoffs in GT2 (race was on Speed Channel recently).
In other items. I saw a nice first gen yesterday on traffic on Hampton Blvd. It was black or a very dark color, with factory alloy rims painted dark color as well with the license plate META-IV. Anyone know who it is?

Well in SCCA there are first gens in GT2, GT3, and E Production. There are different levels of preparation. You can also have second and thrid gen cars running in GT1, GT2, and GT3. The car on my calendar is a GT2 car. In the picture with it are a Porsche 944, a 350Z, A Sunbeam Tiger, and a 300ZX.

Sorta off topic, but of interst. Any of you that are interested in making the fun we had at AIK more serious..... They are starting their winter racing league this Tuesday, Jan 11th. They have no updated their web site to reflect it, but I have a flyer about it that I picked up last time I was there. I think it runs for 8 weeks. For more info you can check out the infor about the last league at http://www.gforcekarts.com/index2.htm
Also they have the "super track" night Wednesday (I think) the 12th where they combine the two tracks into one big track. They do this all day long.
If you are interested in either of these, give them a call and make sure everything I have listed here is correct just to make sure. If I have someting wrong, sorry, I am doing it from memory.

Sweet, kinda like the north and south tracks at VIR. That's an awesome experience for anyone who'd like to give it a try BTW. I've been at VIR once when they combined the track. I'll be there Saturday, anyone else coming?

I'll be there saturday.
FWIW the Febuary NASA HPDE and the MDA school in (?) March are both the full course at VIR, and later in the year they are running the Grand East Course at VIR which is an even bigger track than the full course.

Where does the grand east course run Calvin? I don't remember any other turns off the full course, unless they built another part of the track east.....?

I think the track is 4.1 miles if I remenber right, making it the longest race track in the US.
It was built by paving some new connectors between the South course and the North course. The connectors are new. It has never been run before, but will be run at a few events this year. If you look on the map, you will see "the Hook" that is the turn that would finish the south course. If you look at "the Uphill" that is the connector that makes up the north course. Those two strips between that connect the two tracks are what makes up this new track. In addition there was a new short track that was run this past year called the patriot course. It was basically the small course inside the full course (there is a connector on the left that is not shown in this map). Basically the partiot course is completely within the full course. They have run some small events there with great success. They ran a ARCA truck race there this past year.
Here is the story about the truck race that they ran on the patriot course least year. http://www.arcaracing.com/Truck/release090404.html
Here is the promo for the race in 2005. It has a aerial picture of the track. I think you can see where it fits in the track map, just rotate the picture about 90 degrees in the clockwise direction. http://www.arcaracing.com/Truck/ottingvirrelease04.html
