I'll keep this post very short ! ! I've known Chris for 20 years, we started messing with 1st gen cars almost immediately, I had a 79 that he built the motor for ( 12a ) he had an 81 with a ( 13b ) and we beat the **** out these cars for years and the motors held up. He can flat build an engine for any gen car and it will stay together. I'll wait 4 months just to have the satisfaction that my motor will hold up. Were running almost exact cars right now as a matter of fact.

QUALITY DOES TAKE TIME PEOPLE. GIVE THE MAN A BREAK ! ! !

Quick third gen saw this post and gave me a heads up.
Wow Daniel,
Kind of suprized here. I think you are kind of being hard on me for time. We pulled your motor apart and it had bad parts so you elected to find another, that took a good while. (Not my fault) I then pulled it apart (no cost)and it also had bad parts. I then went and found good parts and gave them to you for what I paid. I then put your motor together. This was the reason it took more time. Also, If you remember when you picked up the ported/finished motor you took pieces of the bad core with you. The only parts you left were the old iron side housing because you didn't want them. I told you I would also go to bat for you so you could get your money back from the guy who sold you a bad core. If I say I will build a motor in X amount of time I can do it and I am honest and good on my word. I can't however control a situation I have no control over. I have built motors over weekends and can do it if the parts are good.
Anyhow, I am glad you are happy with your motor and you should get well over 100,000 miles out of it. My average rebuilds last 125,000 plus. I believe nobody builds a better motor. Many engine builders, I personally know some and shops even that "skimp" and re-use old seals and only "fix" the worn out part/s. The engine will last about a year or so and he just made a big profit by using your part money. I don't believe in that type of business and that is why I have never had an engine come back. I recently built a 3rd gen hi-po motor for the X-editor of Road and Track. He shipped the car from NY, NY.

John,
You may not need housings and I usually can get them cheap. 160,000 is a bit of miles but on N/A's I have seen nice housings on disassembly even on "high mile" cars, it just depends. I believe I have one or two good 12a rotor housings at the moment anyhow.

i was mainly upset about the time cuz i didn't have another car to get around in and it was so annoying to find rides to and from work and every where else. your right that wasn't your fault its not your responsiblity to provide me with transportation, just the engine. i do not regret you building my motor and if it happened again i still would have bought the motor from u. i just got real pissed when i got an engine from jerrry that he said was good and i blew $400 to have you say its no good you need MORE housings. i'm sorry if i sounded harsh but i always try to put ups and downs. thanks again for the engine, buy the way I've put a stomping on quite a few cars with it and the flywhhel hasn't f*cked up yet. although i will be replacing the clutch today

Chris,
This sounds like a good deal. I will most definitley be giving you a call within the next month, gotta wait for school to get out. But honestly, youre the best deal I have found, and hell, 40 minutes away just seems more convenient than having to ship my engine to god knows where. One last thing, my names Jake, I just have this thing for e-mail anonymity... don't ask

I moved here from California in 1997 in my FC. I shoved everything I owned into the back of it. Shut the lid too. I loved that car!

I read that you might be selling your R1 so I left you a PM. I hang out over in the Richmond thread.

Sorry about the FC... Is it totalled?

Unfortunately yes. That was about 5 years ago.

I have 16x7" rims, 205/45-16 tires and 40mm offset. Here is a picture. My car is a GSLSE so I have a bolt pattern with more choices than you might have with a 12A car. I have not rolled the fenders, but I plan to lower the car a little more and then may need to.

The usual autocross setup is 13x[7|8|9] inch rims with about a 225/50-15 hooseir autocrosser or radial. These improve the gearing by having the shorter tire. Makes the car leap off the corner a little better.

I didn't go, but I plan to go to one of the next two.

There is an autocross on Jun 8th at Pungo being put on by BCC. Go here to pre-register:
http://www.merritt.org/cgi-bin/bcc/reg.cgi

Then June 15th is a TSCC event at ACU-4 at Little Creek Amphib Base. Go here for more info:

I plan to attend the June 8th event, but I'll be racing (if tranny is willin) at Dinwiddie on June 14-15.

Anyone here going to Dinwiddie?

I'll be riding with a group of local Rotorheads, and it would be cool if we can get a large group to drive up there together. If anyone is interested in this caravan please eMail me so I can coordinate it.

Does that imply that you aren't going to the Roadsters and Rotors event at Summit Point that weekend?

I have yet to decide on what I am doing that weekend. Also there is the Mazda Rev-It-Up event in Washington DC on July 26-27th.
