Other than the ODR-SCCA, what sites are there for autocross or road race? I'd like to hit more events, and attempt to at least TRY a road course.

Try NASA. Also, check out VIR's page, they might have some HPDE soon. At least it'll get you on the track, and it lasts all weekend.

 

There are several other places and groups that autocross around here. If you only want to run Pungo there is also:

There is a new group called RPM that has an event on Oct 24th at Pungo. That event is only a test-n-tume event with lots of pratice time and not trophies or winners, just come out and run all day if you want. PM me for info, I can email it to you.....

But Tidewater Sports Car Club runs at ACU-4 on Little Creek Amphib Base. It is probably the nicest autocross site on the east coast. A great place to autocross. They have a winter series that usually runs on the 3rd sunday of November, December, January and February. There is more info and directions at:

Pay special attention to the access list information. You can't just show up at their events, you have to get on the list of people comming to the event by the Tuesday before the event.

Two clubs run on the paddock area of Virginia Motorsports Park. They are VMSC http://vmsc.org and NASA http://www.nasaracing.net (but their web site doesn't appear to be working right now).

If you want to take in some track events, there are many different groups to run with. My favorite is of course MazdaDrivers info at http://mazdadrivers.com/ They have the best instructors ( I am one :-) ) and give you quite alot of track time every track weekend. There is also NASA (http://www.nasaracing.net/ their web site appears to be back now, click on the 2004 schedule and look for HPDE). They still have events this year at Summit Point, but should be back at VIR by February or so next year.

Also once a year G&W Motorsports puts on a great event at VIR. It is comming up Nov 20-21 this year (you will miss our Karting night). For more info go to http://www.gandwmotorsports.com/

ok im getting out of he air force and moving in to randy' garage i cant take it anymore.. all three gens in one garage...drooooooool. im sleeping in the AE. im down for a lil chill time at randy's but is randy down for it ?

hmm well my can ran for 4 weeks with no issues.. but the master clutch cylinder is dead(again).. anyone got an extra one...? besides that the car is ummm "growing up " at an alarming rate... the car has forced me to run 93 only or it will detonate (compression going up). it does not respect my rear tires anymore. and it does 0-60 in 5.6 seconds according to my accelerometer ... weeee... still kinda scary though..i made the 5.6 0-60 and 14.05 at 100 quarter on 89 with no pings... i feel i need to have some control over it... all i have is a downpipe and intake and fcd.. i spike to 12lbs then settle to 10.. first gear is 6 lbs everything else is 10 and up. fast it is.. need fuel and fuel control now.. laters phone number is 865-1811 if you have the master clutch cylinder.

Randy is fine for his house. Let's see if we can do it on Sunday November 7 after 4PM We could all meet around 5PM, and go for a cruise, and come back from some cookout action, and adult beverages. Anyone in for that, I'll call Randy to double check, but he should be alright with that.

I'd really like to get in on any kind of get together coming up, ecspecially if I can get my car to pass inspection by then. Which leads me to the questions, does anyone know of a shop in norfolk/portsmouth thats pretty slack on inspections? my car is sporting exhaust I put together, absolutely no emissions equipment, except for the cat, and im sure theres a few other things that could cause it not to pass. tires/suspension/brakes, and all the other safety stuff i can think of is brand new though. Anyways, i want to be able to show off my car . just got it running, turbocharged carbed fb, went all out on everything!

 

Sorry to everyone that I didn't get back to the past few days. My wife had a death in the family and we went to the funeral in Indiana. We just got back.

NE-Way, Sounds like it is OK with Randy for Nov 7th. He lives off of Warwick on the Peninsula. I will post a map in the next couple of days. 4PM and we will go from there. I think if Randy puts out a tip bowl or something for using his grill nobody will have a problem with that. It is bring your own food to put on the grill and bring your own drinks and everything sounds good.

ny friend keeps tellin me about this rx7 running sequential turbos and a remote start. i think he said it was black.talked about it being at the gas station next to kmart on victory

 

i wouldnt be surpised if the genius was talking about me....... i mean it cant be a third gen.. cuz duh they are seq. and who puts sequential on a fc and someone out of our crew doesnt know them... i have been out there recently...haha i dont have remote start i just dont turn the car off alot... but i may be wrong

 

he said when he turns it off you can hear all the electronic things power down as well as the turbos.. and yes its a 3rd gen.
