well i got it from a guy out of north carolina that sells alot of them on autotrader. when i got it, i was runnig good and strong. Now i just got off the phone with the warranty company and he told me to take my car to a different shop he said mazda was giving them the reacharound. Mazda said it would be 4,800 for a reman tranny ad 2k to install... And that the engine would be 9k reman.... So basically they are high off their ***(they told me the same prices) now i talked to the warranty claims adjuster and he reccommend a local shop up here so i called him and he said from the symptoms i told him he could rebuild it and put in a new clutch for less than 1K.... Now the warranty claims adjuster says that mazda is lieng about the compression test because they said that the car had 800 psi on all sides.... So first off we all know thats a load of crap... They are just trying to get money in their pockets... NO ONE EVER GO TO HALL MAZDA Im getting charged $300 for them basically telling me what i already knew and the compression test... They also told me my turbos where leaking but i could care less im going 1 turbo set up after deployment. But yah have the car a few weeks, get hit, go in for a seal leak and now they claim i need over 23k in parts and labor.... Im pissed off right now. by the way the engine feels like it runs strong, but the turbos did feel a little lacking so that could be true but i dont believe half the crap they tell me there....

He probably needs an official work statement. Unless any of us work for a competent repair shop, I doubt it would fly for his warranty claim. Good luck man. rough way to start ownership.

i do hope you have another kind of daily driver to atleast get around or a rental since your car is not up to par. i think honestly you should get another word and see what they would say differently.
i have an account with hall mazda for buying hard to find parts thats about it. as far as repairs done with them i wouldnt even go there lol. you will find out short hand that most of us on here end up doing our own labor and repairs and get some help for one another. so yeah im not to sure as to how far your warrenty will go as far as the issuesyou are having now...

best of luck.

BTW nunchuck where did you get that red rx7 avatar from i see that all over this forum ??? i want one.....

Well, i went today to pick my car up and i have to be honest i dont think that there is a damn thing wrong with the engine, it pulls strong not sputters or anything the engine seems to be good. I looked at the compression results and it said 94 on all sides... failed... From what i have read the psi can be a little low but if its even it doesnt matter a whole bunch. Im gonna ride that sucker till it blows and get a new streetport hopefully in more than a year. As for the transmission im taking it to Genes Transmissions out in Virginia beach he told me he if i provided the clutch he would also replace the old stock one while hes fixing that one. He has also worked with the warranty company im dealing with and they both had good things to say about eachother. So once my car gets out of the body shop from fridays incident its going there to get repaird.... So sorry guys want get to see my fd this saturday. Hopefully in january we can all meet up and you can see it. I will however bring my dodge truck....lol not quite the same but im a little eager to meet some other rotary heads out here..... And its not so much that i cant do some of the work on the car myself, i really want too. But i need some help with it, im not mechanicaly retarded by any means im a very fast learner but i have never done any work on one of theese cars.

do you happen to have a 93 twinturbo with some mods done to it? i just saw a red 93 at this body shop near the beach area . the shop is next to dyno inc /a performance shop i stopped by to see what my friends ae86 would do on there dyno. had to help him with his duel weber setup.

anywho the body shop said that they had to cut the left rear quater panel up to the rear of the drivers door and install a whole new sheetmetal. it did come out really nice with its 99 spec front bumper and new 99 spec wing. the plate said 93 on it / not sure what it said correctly ,slipped my mind. 93specTT something silly like that. anywho. could that be you?

That would be my red 93 R1, since I was hit I thought it wouild be a great time to paint the whole car so I decided to go ahead and install 99 spec parts and a FEED hood. Brian did a great good.

Yes it was him and to be honest i got a decent deal, and the car is in almost immaculate shape..... Well as far as the interior goes. This was my first RX7 and my first manual so there where some things i didnt know to look for. Such as how the turbos where suppose to spool up and how the car was suppose to run. The manual transmission i thought was good just because it changed into all gears without a problem but since i never drove one i didnt know how it was suppose to shift. So basically I ended up with a car that didnt spool correctly, and the tranny was about shot. I paid 13K for it. But i also got the 3 year 36K mile warranty on the engine, tranny, seals and gaskets. So i dont think it was a bad deal but the guy is a little shady.

ok, that's pretty much what I've heard about the guy - he is particularly unliked on bimmerforums

yah i saw all of the bmw's that he had there.... Really he seems shady as **** but i guess it still was not a bad deal over all.... The car runs good and when i say the tranny is bad it just needs to be babied for a little while till i get the rebuild. Im satisfied with the deal and the car is very clean i think yall will like it.

well thats one of the things, once he's got your money you'll have a helluva time tracking him down

it's a random crapshoot as to what condition the car will actually be in

I've heard a few people got stellar deals with no problems and other people were seriuosly ripped off

if you go in with your eyes open you should be ok

also he's been known to drive around in any of the cars and drive them hard so if you look at the car one day make sure you check again before purchase

basically he buys the cars cheap and sells them cheap with very little done to fix them up

caveat emptor

Yah thats about the impression that i got from him, it seems like he got this one cheap, and basically cleaned it up..... And then sold it to me.... Now it really is about one of the cleanest rx7's that I have ever seen which is what sold me on it... Right now its not as good as when i got it because i accidently broke the guage hood.... My fault so im not gonna blame him for that. But as far as mechanical goes it runs strong and its the fastest car i have ever owned. But like i said I now know that it doesnt run like it should and i cant wait to get it to where it should be... Now if i had to reccomend to someone where to get one of theese cars, i would not direct them to him unless they where not worried about having to do a rebuild. When i got the car it was not really a impulse buy but i did drive 250 miles with a check in hand, and the car was looking excellent. So i kinda jumped on it. But i wish i would have had him do a full checkout with a local mechanic before i purchased it.
