Shame Dale already sold his. That was the first gen buy of the year (or maybe two or 5). I think he sold it for about $2200, with a 1000 mile engine rebuild (had included new rotor housings), and a $1600+ paint job, Sterling carb, RB header, etc. You figure it out.

Just wanted to let you guys know here that I fired the Cosmo today. We had to play with the carbs a little but (needle valves) but we got them working pretty good. Looks like it is going to be very sweet. You should see how that Rotary Engineering Streetport Engine moves that big old car. I left some nice tire marks on my driveway. Too bad it is not posi-traction. Still got to do some very little fine tuning but it is doing good.....

I might have the stock manual trans mount bracket for a '90 manual. Is the one on the S4 I got from you Ian the same? Do any of these parts help either of you?

A little education for you guys. Some transmission crossmembers are not the same. S4 and S5 trannie crossmember a slightly different( I have to verify). I know for sure Turbo and non Turbo are different completely.
Another note. Automatic RX-7s have different mounting points.
You have only two options:
1. Fabricate the difference between the automatic mounting points and the manual ones with angle iron, bar stock or whatever in those lines.
2. Cut out of a parts car, the factory manual crossmember mounting points and put them on your automatic car.
I prefer number 2. I have seen it done.
Either use sandpaper, wire brush or anything for you to find the "weld spots" of the tranny crossmember points. Get a good sheetmetal drill bit. Drill out the "weld", then take a chisel and hammer and tap them out. It comes off like butter.
Weld manual brackets to automatic car. Obviously, you have to do the same to your automatic car (taking off the automatic ones)
Sometimes you probably need two drill bits. One to do a pilot hole and the second to drill out the weld. If you use cheap bits, make sure you have a quite a bit of them.

I didn't realize that. Is that true for FB's as well? I had an automatic FB once, and hd initially planned to convert to manual, but I got another car that was better (and manual) before I started that project. I think I have a tranny crossmember for a '90 if it helps make the fabrication easier.

OK Dale, we have to find out what type of coating was / is on the intake . this stuff is like nothing Ive ever seen . I sent it to my buddy's maching shop for him to run through his blaster, I got it back with 80% of the coating removed , and thought I could blast the rest of it off myself . take a close look at the pics
