Hey Guys, I'm new to the rotary scene and I got a *kinda* random question.
Are there any shops local to Hampton Roads that specialize in RX-7's???
Specifically I am looking for a shop that can dyno tune a PFC. I'm gunna start throwing reliability and fun mod's on my 7 in late December, and was thinking that a tune will probably be necessary.
If nothing else I guess I can head up to Manassas to hit up RP Performance. I would prefer not to **** with the fuel systems and wastegate myself, rather have a professional with alot more experience get in and work on those...
Thanks guys,
Levi

If you want to dyno tune you should go to Ray Wilson at PFS. You should wait to do that until all your reliability or other mods you want to put in your car is already on because tuning ain't cheap. As for a shop in the area, there really isn't one at the momnent but there are alot of knowledgeable guys around.

I’m really considering selling my 1974 Mazda RX-4. I’m just testing the waters at the moment. Taking offers. I know I’ll never get what I got into it, but some things have some up and I’m considering the idea. Here is a link and what has been done to it if you've never seen it before.. If you care to make an offer please email me at SBMotors@***.net. There are some problems with it at the moment. I believe it is the ignition, but nothing major.

Word,
I wasn't aware that PFS was still in business... I thought the whole fiasco with the totalled lexus pretty much turned Peter Farrel off to the scene.. last I heard he had re-located up in Maryland somewhere.
Yeah, problem is that I need to get stuff done quick. I plan on getting all bolt ons installed w/i a week and would prefer to get some sort of a tune shortly after. The injectors and wastegate is mainly dependent on what kind of boost creep (if any) I am seeing after the breath easy mods. I have less than a month to get my car from stock to reliable before I roll out to England. Work done there will either be conducted by myself on base, or sparingly from specialists.. it's ****** expensive over there! I suppose my saving grace is that my PFC is a series 4, so the base map is much more forgiving to the mods I plan to do.. still, a good tune is well worth it imho.
You say tuning isn't cheap.. How much would you guess a thorough tuning session to run?

hey man. fwiw i ran the pfc untuned with full exhaust and it was fine/ok(no ic upgrade though). no kaboom. there was a slight creep, but not big(never went above 12psi except one really cold night to 13, 4th gear high rpms. I had a ported wastegate. Your guy sounded like he knew what he was doing in terms of tuning though. Oh well. For driveability, you should be fine just making the changes to the injectors in the pfc then there are a few other things to change. Search the pfc section and you'll find it. But of course dyno tuning is the way to go. Good luck, and letme know if you need help with anything when your in town, since I'm local.

Hrm.. I wonder how long the wait is? I got about 3 weeks between seeing my car in person, installing the list of mods, getting a tune, and getting it shipped..
Yeah James. I may definately call on you for a little assistance for some of the troublesome parts (beer afterwards will be on me)

Cool, swing on by.....I have the streetported engine rebuilt and on the table. After I returned from work this morning (night shift). FEDEX dropped off my pilot bearing puller and it took ten seconds to remove the old one. Best money I ever spent!
I will probably be bolting on the oil drain tube, oil pan, tranny, starter and a few other stuff before putting the drivetrain in the Cosmo Sunday.
I am excited, I hope I will have it running soon.
