wish i could have made this. I had a fuel filter that was and is continuing to give me problems though, and was installing my pfc. Anyone have any tips for changing the fuel filter on an fd. Must have spent like an hour trying to get the bottom hose off.

i have class everyday at 7 pm except sat. my auto engines class is nine to 2:50. the only days i dont have class are fri. and sunday.

good news is i dont work on sat. so i can make it to more meets.

and monty your car look really clean. i remember you used to come up to the car show in newport news/yorktown, but you always had the mustang with you.

Give me a week and maybe I'll bite. I really appreciate the offer, its just I'm not ready to give up yet. I had no problem getting to it, and no problem getting the top hose off. It was just the damn bottom one. That and evidently I didn't completely depressurize the fuel system which is really what made me stop trying. Gas wouldn't stop leaking. Got about a gallon of gas on me and 3 towels. I'm in norfolk by the way near wards corner.

you need to go by just about any auto store and pick up the long nose pliers which have the round tips just for removing hoses , they run about $ 10.00

Autocross was great today...... Except for the fact that I did terrible. I ran the worst I have in a long time, and the bad thing is I drove pretty well. I can't see where I could have gotten much more out of the car and I was so far off the pace. I mus suck much worse than I thought I did.

Out at the event today were Pete in his Megasquirt FC, Carl in his SA22C, Dave in his wife's RX8 (Didn't get his FD finished). All our club members. Watching were Brian and Jack, but most of them seemed to enjoy hanging out with everyone. My daughter, Shelby, had a great time. She can't wait until she can run.

Weather was hot.... I think Pete was probably the fastest of us (he beat me by a mile).

thanks for the links and info rich they helped a lot. i need to call them tommorow and see if they have what i need ,which i think that they do. looks like i need to buy the tools that i dont have to do this turbo fix. ill miss the killing the cat sound my car is making .

TSCC in conjunction with ODR-SCCA will be hosting a Cone Clinic autocross driving school.
When: Saturday October 21st
Time: 9am till 4pm
Where: ACU-4 on Little Creek Amphibious Base
Who: It will be open to any driver seeking instruction.
Cost: $50 per person (includes Lunch)

This event will most likely be limited to 20-30 students. The number of students will be dependant on the number of qualified instructors available.

That was a fun course, and I left a bunch on the table. I love Kumho 710s. The car responded so much faster than ever before, both in handling and throttle. Time to install the 4.3 torsen rear, maybe shawn won't beat me so bad then

Why are people intimidated by autocross? I was, too! You all have to realize that you have more in common with autocrossers than you think. We're ALL car people, competative, too! I have never met a group of people in my life who were so open and willing to help each other as autocrossers. Have a setup question? Ask anyone, and they wil either give you their opinion, or tell you who to talk to for your exact car!

The point of the rambling... just sign up and show up. Make sure your battery is tied down, and you'll be fine. You will NOT be fast your first few times out, I don't care how much $$$ you throw at your car. The problem isn't the car, if you know what I mean. You have to learn to be fast. The car is already waaaay ahead of you.

Show up in a ragged out caprice station wagon, and you'll STILL have a blast. Just show up - thats the key.

I can't agree more with Pete.... He has it right. I think it is best to show up, run a few events, THEN go to a school. Then you have some idea of what to ask, and the instructor has a better basis to relate to you about certain aspects of car handling, courses, etc.

Come out to an event at Pungo first. Those events are much smaller, slower, and low key. After the event you can still get some "fun" runs for pratice, have me or someone else ride with you and give you some pointers. Nobody will get upset if you get off course and need help (I am sure someone will jump in and offer to help you if you are having problems).

At ACU now they have lots of cars, and the event is pretty fast pace. The people putting on the event are busy, and don't have as much time to help out. If you get off course you will just be directed to the finish area and told to try again.... Not because they don't want to help, but because they just will not have enough time to help out.

FWIW, a H*nduh as much as I and other pick on them, they are actually very good autocross cars. All of them, from Civics to Accords or whatever else (ok maybe except the SUV's and the old 600 coupes, but otherwise).... One of our best drivers started out in an Accord automatic, and he was fairly soon beating everyone with it. It is mostly driver.....

ACU-4 is the best autocross place. It is big and fairly fast and best for your car, but Pungo might be best for you as the driver for your first time. I might be wrong, but that is jsut waht I think... next pungo event is Sept 3rd. This is where you can register...

what safety equipment does autocrossing require as far as helmet and clothing wear?

You need to have a regular working seatbelt, and a Snell approved helmet (M or SA rated, 2000 or newer (might be 1995, I am not 100% sure). But if you don't have a helmet, they have loaners you can use if you want. They hold on to your driver's license while you use it to make sure you give it back to them...

Shorts and short sleves are fine... you have to have shoes that cover all your feet (no sandals). That is about it. If you have a convertible with race tires (non-DOD slicks) then you have to have a roll bar, but that is probably not your situation.
