It does not necessarily take a fast car out there to win (though Shawn's Miata is pretty damned fast) all it takes it a good driver. Years ago friend of mine (Dale Blankenship, runs the Maaco on Pembroke) won a season championship in a Chevy VEGA... really.. I am not kidding. They eventually asked him not to come back because he was too fast when he started running his 77 Z28 out there.

The people who made those videos are (is) the guy that runs http://www.autocross.us/forums which they set up to support the autocross community. It is a great web site. Look at their multi-media section. Jim produces FANTASTIC videos, and he produces and sells DVD's of special events. He dosen't really make a living out of it by any means, but he provides a great service to racers. If you have something you want a professionally produced video of, get with Jim on autocross.us. He has lots of cool equipment (like little bullitt cams that can be mounted on your helmet as you ride a skateboard, or in-car cameras for track events, or .... just lots of stuff) and can do a really professional job of producing videos for you at reasonable (hobbyist type) rates.

If you aren't REALLY comfortable with the way YOUR CAR handles, I wouldn't take it to a track with walls. Autocross is an excellent primer for car handling, and I would recommend it prior to any track events. Undoubtedly, you will encounter situations on-track that will either pull from your autocross/handling instincts, or make you panic. Panic is bad. I can't count the number of times I've been witness to people doing stupid stuff on the track...

Come on "cup cake" alll this time we have been waiting for ya . Just dont push it hard enough to spin out . Drive it like Randy did " nice and easy ". You will still win most of your races . And if by chance you do hit somethging , there are enough FB shells around here , all you would need to do is swap out the good stuff .

Matt and Randy had been working on a car (thought it was an FB) to run at Langley. Wonder if it was them.

FWIW, I would definately recommend running autocrosses first and leanr how your car handles. It has to say something that one of the autocrossers went over there his first time and won the time attack by a second over the next fastest car. Shawn sid he easily left a half second or more our there just in being careful. At an autocross if you spin, you cuss at yourself for screwing up and collect yourself together and continue. That is a 50-50 proposition at Langley.

FWIW, I have run lots of autocrosses at Langley. I might be a little rusty, but I can still turn a pretty good lap at the place. I just don't have anything that would run well over there to drive.

Oh and for those reasons the Shelby doesn't run at Langley, but I have run lots of different cars over there.

That theater is one that serves you appetizer type food and the usual fair of drinks and stuff while you watch the movie. It is actually a pretty OK place to go to a movie. I will wait until it comes to the Commodore in P-town and watch it there. If you haven't ever been to the Commodore, you should sometime. It is easily the coolest place around to go see a movie. We went there to see Star Wars E I, all the SW special editions, and the Lord of the Rings premiers. Of course we had a special deal on all of those, but it is the place to go see movies with lots of visuals and audio. Plus the atmosphere is just totally awesome with the dinner tables, the phones and stuff.
