Ok guys, I need a little input here... I am getting a domain for our club. I am considering hrrotary.com and hr-rotary.com. Does anyone have any other ideas that would be better, or should I go with something like hrrotaryclub.com or ????? This is in our effort to move the club site off of the meetup site. I plan to have most of the features of the meetup site plus a regular forum. It will have the google ads (unless I find a better one) to pay for it and hopefully make it self supporting. So when we get it going everyone go there and click on some of the ads.

Any of those domain names are fine. I don't see anyone actually just typing the name in a browser, most likely people will find us by searching or getting the link from one of the boards.
We could go with HamptonRoadsRotary.com......nice and wordy, lol. How about we get some more suggestions and set up a poll? But actually, I think you should just decide on a domain name yourself to eliminate any type of bickering and surprise us.

My current plan is to have the new site up in a week or two (depending on my time) and plan as many upcomming events as possible on the meetup site and then resign as organizer. It will probably send everyone a message asking for a new one.
By putting up the events, the site will stay there for a while, and anyone that stumbles onto it will be able to see them. I think the message board will function so we can post there, but we will not be able to schedule any more events. At some point it will go away, but hopefully everyone will have migrated over to the new site by then.
The problem is, that site costs money, I pay it now. It is a small amount, but it is going to double plus have some extra charges on Jan 1st. I am not willing to sign up for that. Mt plan is to set up our site, put som ads on it and ask everyone to notice the ads and click on them occasionally and hope it pays for itself. I hope to also set up a few other things that will be better than what is currently there. Anyone else that wants to work on it or set up some web pages, let me know and I will gladly let you help...

Well the name of the club is The Hampton Roads Mazda Rotary Club.
I didn't create the name, it was that when I started hanging around. I want a domain that is pretty easy to remember and somehow related to the club's name.
We are also cater to RX8's, REPU's, RX2-4, etc. but not necessarily Miatas, or Mazdaspeed Protoges for example. The way I see it is we focus on those cars, but like we used to say with the Shelby club, "Ownership is not mandatory, enthusiasm is". So anyone can be a member (it is not like we have membership cards or pay dues), but our focus is rotaries.

Personally I like the idea of us being less exclusive. Yeah, we're all rotary nuts, but hey variety is the spice of life. I think we should make our site rotary and Mazda specific. And yeah, "Ownership is not mandatory, enthusiasm is".

Ok on the domain I am down to 3 different choices:
1) hrmazdarotaryclub.com
2) hamptonroadsmazdarotaryclub.com
3) hrmrc.com
vote by number. I have a favorite, and I may or may not listen to anyone else.
