Info on our club's meet this Saturday, Oct 15th:

http://rx7.meetup.com/55/events/4767321/

Info for the autocross at Little Creek Amphib Base the next day (Oct 16th_:

Info on an upcomming event put on by that NC Mazda Club we can attend Oct 29th:

It can't be said we don't have enough going on to keep anyone busy. The NC Mazda Club's RBQ events is a new addition. It sounds like a great time. I am going to try to make it out there.

Cool, thanks for the info guys. I'm definitely going to try to make it out to the Saturday get together. yuichiror - I'm located up in the 64/Mercury blvd area. Don't have a boost guage as of yet since I just bought this thing. It is dead stock (which was how I wanted it so that I can make sure the mods are done right) - bought it from the original owner. That is one of the first things on my list to buy, and I'm also planning to go through all the "reliability" mods to start with. I've just got a lot to learn about these cars at this point, having never owned one before.

Errr, all of Hampton is in the 64/Mercury area, lol. Let me know if you need any help, I did my boost gauge and AST this week, I did some PM work, didn't like it, but I did it.

I believe I have a boost leak somewhere (my car hisses loudly when the secondary turbo comes on) that I'd like to get fixed this weekend. Since this is my first rx-7 I'm not familiar enough with the car yet to track it down myself. Any help would be appreciated

Dave
Dave,
The hissing is probably a torn boot (y-pipe) or a loose coupler clamp. Easy fix. If you have any questions feel free to pop me a pm.

BTW: Nobody knowns more about the FD/RX-7, anywhere. I have well known race shops and tuner shops calling me with questions. I also actually build engines for race shops in California. I have been building/porting and tuning rotaries for over 20 years.

Mr T

I'm sorry we have never met , but you say when and Im sure I can make it happen . Are you local ???? I've got several motors going on now and I sure could use some advise with race motors and how to make them more dependable . I just tore down a FD engine tonight , everything looked great except for the rotors . Some moistier got into a brand new rebuilt motor with 3 mill seals and a pretty good port . From what I can tell everything looks great , i only need to replace the oil and water seals . The motor I got was rebuilt but never ran .

I;ll cut this short , LOVE to meet ya

Thanks for the advice, I'm hopeful that the hissing is a simple fix. Now I just need to find out where to find those two places to check in the engine bay! I'll do some searching on this board to try to find some resources for diagrams, etc to help me along. It's good to know there are a number of knowlegeable folks in this area. Do you have a commercial shop, or is this just something you do on the side?

Well, I did my first boost test last night. Well at idle the gauge reads at 20 vaccuum and when I did the boost test, I got 5-3-?. I had to slow down cause they just started some construction project on LaSalle. So far it doesn't look very good. The vaccuum seems kinda high on a streetported engine, and so far the boost readings don't look good..... Anyone got a MityVac I can borrow for a few minutes? There doesn't seem to be any unusual noises under the hood that might indicate a leak. Should I have a look at the actuators??

You guys are seriously going to make me buy an FD. As it is now, I have the FB torn apart. It seems like I'll be getting an '83 as well. Yoshi or Kenny, trade me the 83 for an FD....

Not really, I think you should pick colors that compliment the body color. What color is the body?? Personally, I like the CYM FDs, then you could paint the engine yelllow and black. Sweet innocent Canary on the outside, hot stinging bee on the inside!!!!!

Well I love ALL 7's. But the FD is my favorite. I just have this striking memory of the first time I saw one. Been hooked ever since.
