Bryan, I drove by your apartments today and saw that they had condemend them or something, and everyone was moving out. I didn't know exactly which building you lived in. Glad to hear you are generally OK. About 10 years ago a friend of mine worked at the Kinder Care across the street. Her car (a Thunderbird) was under water one day to where you could only see the top half of the roof. So I have seen it happen several times before. Sorry about your Geo, but I would not be surprised to find that it starts ok once it has been drained and cleaned.

Well, everything is coming out alright. My apt building wasn't one of the condemned ones, and power was turned back on today, at least to my building.

Other news: I went to 5 junkyards and finally got an ECU for the Geo for $75. Took the plugs out, and turned the car over to make sure no water in the cylinders...none. Put the plugs back in, and hooked up the plug wires. WHAM, first try fired right up. Spend the rest of the afternoon draining and sucking water out of the interior. Also flushed the trans....twice. 40 qts of tranny fluid later, it's clean. Got the car back together sans the passenger seat. I'm going to need new seats for sure. They're still pretty wet, even after sitting for 2 days and being vacuumed.

3 more weeks until I'm outta this hell hole. I'm moving to NN, where it doesn't flood every time it rains.

You guys think I have a case against someone for damages done since this is a known problem and hasn't been fixed in years? There has to be some way they can drain all this water.

hey seven sorry to hear about all your problems , and glad to see things are getting better . Just my 2 cents worth , I dont see anyway you can sue or get anytype of judgement .Maybe your car insuranceor mabe your home/renters insurance .

Brian, that's great news!!!! Glad things are starting to look up for you. BTW, where in NN are you moving to? There are a couple of spots in NN that do flood, like in Kiln Creek and in the West/North end of Jefferson Ave.

Bryan, I don't know if you have any recourse, I don't remember what happened to the people all the previous times this happened. Supposedly they had fixed the problem. The interstate (Well Rt 164 actually) construction back behind the apartments is what caused the problem. It used to happen with any heavy rain, but this is actually the first time in more than 5 years, maybe as much as 10 years. I don't think we got that much rain during Isabelle. The rain lifted much more of the clearcoat off my hood again. I don't know what has caused the clearcoat on my car to be water soluable????? :-/ This has held me up so much with so many things right now. I needed to do many things outside this weekend and I just didn't get out in the water to do it.

How old it the clearcoat?? Sounds like "acid rain"..... You might want to do a search and see if our area has had any issues with it.....

Well the story of my clearcoat is strange. My car had decent clearcoat when I bought the car in March of 2004. It had a couple of pinholes. The car had lived its life in Florida and about a year before I got it, it was relocated up here, where it sat parked for a year. I got the car and got it running and about 6 months later we had one of these rain soaking weekends (like this past one). The car sat all weekend and when I got ready for work Monday it had water under much of the clearcoat on the hood and other horizontal surfaces??????

Anyway since then when we have heavy rain for a while and my car sits, I lose another 25% of the reamining clearcoat... It will not take long from here.

I don't think our area has a particular problem with "acid rain" but who knows. I just need to get it reapainted sometime, but it is 3rd on the list for new paint at this moment.

Kenny, the only way I think I could sue would be for damages due to negligence. The city of Portsmouth has known about this problem for YEARS. This past summer, there were 3 days in a row with 3 feet of water where the flooding occurs. That is all but fixed. Every time we get a heavy rain for 30 minutes or more, it floods. I'll have to talk to a lawyer about the problem. It's not the money I'm interested in, as I am fortunate to have the ability and resources to fix the problem relatively cheaply. It's the principal of the fact that Portsmouth is unwilling to fix this problem, as it just "goes away" after a few hours. I think with 16 apartments condemned and a dozen vehicles damaged, something will be done in the near future.

Hey 7 anybody can sue anybody,but its winning that counts . I guess my main question is this , if you knew about the flooding , why have you stayed there???I would have left after the 1st time . BTW, I found a hose on the plug side of the engine that's been blocked off with a bolt. Haven't had time yet to trace where the other end connects to. Wonder what it is?? It's not the AWS......

Yea, I'm not gonna take it any farther here. The only reason I stayed though, is because the manager told me the water doesn't get any higher. Also, I didn't know it flooded until I came home one day and inquired. I've since heard it's the low spot in portsmouth. Ah well, I'll be moving soon anyways, water over the bridge. (pun intended)

Yoshi, I'll be between warwick and jefferson ave, just off harpersville rd. It's about a 10 min walk from the park back there. Nice neighborhood, plus the roomies have 2, yes 2 40" TV's in the living room, with a 3rd 20" between them. How frickin sweet is that? Also they have a hard-wired and wireless network throughout the house. Total bachelor pad.

Hi all,

I just moved to the Hampton area. I also just bought a 93' FD out here(I've always loved the cars). Not sure if there are still rx7 owner meets in this area, but I'd be interested in attending to meet some of the other rotary guys around. Also, any recommendations for a good mechanic in this area? I believe I have a boost leak somewhere (my car hisses loudly when the secondary turbo comes on) that I'd like to get fixed this weekend. Since this is my first rx-7 I'm not familiar enough with the car yet to track it down myself. Any help would be appreciated

Hmm, the local experts would be Lovintha7, Jerry Perez, Renegade, and Calvin. VAGambler is our local racer. Though I don't know how experienced they are with FD's. I have a 94 FD, so I'm learning as much as I can with the help of the other guys. Just installed a boost gauge and a steel AST this week. Think I'll go for a ride during lunch, I have yet to have a chance to test them.....
