We have 2 things comming up. I am going to be at both. Sept 24, at the Hooters on Battlefield Blvd. 7:00PM. Phooka and I will be there talking over how things went at the Mazda Drivers event at VIR the previous weekend (Hope to have some pictures by then).
October 5th (Sunday) is an ODR-SCCA Autocross at Pungo Airfield. I know that some of the RX7 crowd will be there. I think that My daughter and I will both have our cars there, and a few others I know will be there too. Suggest a gathering at that event. The autocross will go on most of the afternoon. The day before (Sat Oct 5th) is a novice autocross drivers school. I wil probably be one of the instructors at that event. Last time I instructed 6 people, all in Miatas. I'd like to have some RX7's mixed in this time. For more information (I think you have to pre-register for the school) check out their web site at :ODR-SCCA web site
Look for info under schedule or Auto-X. You will find directions, and entry info. Spectating at the autocross is free, so anyone can show up.
How does that work for everyone?

For those which are going to VIR and would like a preview.. I have a couple vids I took last year. You'll want to click and "save as" since they are pretty big.

It's obvious that several of those cars handle alot better than mine in those videos, but the drivers never learned how to drive them properly. I'm not saying I'm a great driver or anything, but I know my way around the track.

Dale does a damned decent job of getting that (or any) car around the race track. I can't honestly believe I said that in a public forum... but.......
Anyway. If you think that is fun, My opinion is the place to start is an autocross. Do a few autocrosses and figure out the basics, then come to some of the track schools. It is more of a thrill than can be described.

this weekend's is cancelled, however... check back on:

and
http://www.odr-scca.org/
I got my start autocrossing.. spend many years there.. but the track bug pretty much has my fancy these days. Autocrossing is a GREAT way to learn car control before going on track.. IMO it's the best way to start.

OK, here is the deal. RX7 get together Sept 24th (Wednesday night) at Hooters on battlefield at about 7:00 PM.
Next time some of us will get together is Oct 4th and 5th. I suggest the 5th as the "Semi-official" gathering a the SCCA SOLO II (Autocross) at Pungo. Anyone needing directions visit the ODR-SCCA web site or PM me. Spectating is FREE, and it costs less than $20 (I think) to enter if you want to run. Anyone thinking of autocrossing, I will be (probably teaching) at the autocross school the day before (Sat). Same places for info. You don't have to do the school to run the autocross, or run the autocross if you only want to go to the school. I will try to save the RX7 people a group parking area if anyone comming to the event will let me know so I can have a head count.......

Sept. 24th, finally a night that I'm not on duty or underway. I will definitely be there! I'm really looking forward to meeting you guys. See ya there! As far as the Oct 4th and 5th, I'll try to make it there. I figure I might as well. I'm taking my FD up to KDR on the 10th for a rebuild w/ street port and reliability mods, all the new parts in my sig, and tuning.

I work at ***. I see all the DDG's parked out there every day. The Ross is 71 as I recall. My RX7 is parked most days near the corner of Gilbert St and Maryland Ave on the base. My avatar is a picture of my car.

For anyone comming to Hooters tonite. Directions are to get in I-64 heading towards Chesapeake (from either direction) around the Greenbrier Area. Take exit 290B South on Battlefield Blvd. The Hooters is about 2 miles down on the left at 801 N. Battlefield Blvd. It is very easy to find, you can't miss it.
