Good shops in the NYC area?
I live in Bushwick Brooklyn, and I'm looking for a good shops that specialize in RX7s in my area. I'm fairly new to New York (I'm from Philly) so I really don't know of any. General maintenance, performance, installations, suspension, etc. Anyone can recommend me a good, fairly priced shop around here?
I also need a good tune. I know there's ENZO out past Queens, but are there any other reputable tuner shops that I should know of other than ENZO? (since it is about an hour away from me in Brooklyn).

IRP in NJ is the only rotary shop I'd trust around here. However, general maintenance and non engine related stuff such as suspensions can be done by any shop you trust. As long as the shop stands by their work, you'll be fine.
The tune can be tricky as there isn't any place that is super reputable. I've heard that T&R Racing's tuning is good, but at the same time, I've also heard of their engines blowing left and right. I plan to play it safe and bring my car to Speed1 in PA for a tune in the summer.
Maybe we can get Steve Kahn here for a group tune, he'll fly over to any state to do tunes as long as there is at least 5 customers. My friend and I would need a tune in the summer, maybe we can get a list started.

Thanks for all the responses guys.
I think I'm going to T&R. I've heard many positive things about them, and they're very close to me.
Speaking of Steve Khan, I'm down for a group tune so you can count me in.

I lied, changed my mind, I'm not going to T&R after all, after so many mixed responses and further research. I narrowed it down to Speed-Tek (heard great things) and Smokin Joe's, but like the above post (thanks btw), I heard he's not around anymore? I'm now leaning more towards Speed-Tek but if someone wants to weigh in and say otherwise, feel free.

Thanks for complimenting out work, but please explain how we are overpriced? We do things one way - the right way. Each car we take in is treated as if it were our own. Unfortunately Mazda parts cost what they cost. We do not re-use ANY seals in our builds. There is a reason why we have been making over 500 rwhp on the same motor for 6 years + on our track car without a failure. Its one thing to slap together a car than can make a quick pass down the 1/4 mile. That's cake. The cars I build can be driven all day long in 100 degree weather with the a/c on and stereo blasting, then taken to the track and raced and driven home if that is what the customer desires. All our work is backed by a 1 year/12,000 mile warranty, equivalent to Mazda. I would rather turn work away than do it half-***. Generally when we build a car, it does not come back unless for maintenance or if the customer wants more out of in the future. There is also a reason why I tend to have to fix others people's mistakes. As far as aftermarket parts I can match or beat most anyone. If you disagree please share so I can remedy it.

I get the same thing in my business, people say im expensive but they never got a price from me or never even stepped on my property, also comparing to a fly by night guy operating out of his car versus my shop that has been in business since 1964. Dont sweat it Ihor

Its like I saw someone quoting $1150 for a 13bre rebuild parts and labor? How are you doing that if a full internal seal and gasket kit with bearings is more than that? Seals are being reused.

Hey IRP I have all the items needed for my 1st Gen to do a turbo build. My engine just had a mild port done by my brother who came from P.R. and worked at a shop in Connecticut but he went back to because of the f#@ked up winter we had ( LoL). Anyway it's a 12A engine with exhaust porting only and turbo housing but the rotor are not. He used all new internals (Apex seals, 3rd gen springs, exedra). I installed a turbo prepped Rotary shack OEM45 carb and I am running 3 MSD 6AL in Direct Ignition mode 8 rpm pills in each. Are you able to do the Turbo install and tunning? As I mentioned before, I have everything needed for the build, 12A turbo manifold, Garret turbo, blow off , waste gate, 3INCH mandrel exhaust pipping, pre silencer, racingbeat turbo muffler and a bunch of other parts. I just want daily driver and occasional track play. Maybe 300 whp. Sorry for the thread jacking AirEpic.
