FS: 1996 Audi A4 Quattro 2.8 5 speed in RI
The good:
Cosmetically almost perfect
New cat-back
New rear wheel bearings, both sides
New brakes (rotors and pads)
New Vogtland lowering springs
New K&N filter
New cabin air filter
New upgraded sway bar end links
New control arms
New windshield washer pump
Recent belt change (over $900)
New engine coolant temperature sensor
Short throw shifter
Clear corners and side markers (not shown in picture)
Tires are about a year old.
BBS wheels, 17 x 8, originally cost almost 3 grand.
Koni 5 way struts and shocks
Cold weather package: Heated seats, mirrors, door locks (yes, the door locks are heated, those Audi guys think of everything...), washer nozzles.
Black leather interior, power drivers seat.
Bose sound system, CD Changer in trunk, already wired for an amplifier and subwoofers.
The bad:
It has 160,000 miles on it, but to look at it, you would never know.
Check engine light is on, my mechanic says it's injectors, estimated cost $500. Runs and drives perfect though, so it's really just a nuisance to look at the light.
The light on the temperature control for the A/C doesn't work, so you can't see it well at night.
Some of the lights on the radio are burned out.
Will need a clutch within a year or so.
The ugly:
Missing a headlight washer nozzle, so I disconnected the headlight washer pump.
I was originally going to sell it for about $6k, but since it has the engine light and I want it gone ASAP to get another car, I'll take $5200.

NADA prices the car at $5,595, KBB prices it at $5,905, both for private party. And, that's not counting all the mods and the BBS wheels. Again, $5200 is an absolute steal for this. If I didn't need a bigger car for my kids, I'd be keeping it.

I forgot to add that the flex pipes on the exhaust are also new, the car has been debadged, and it has an aftermarket grill. I'll take some new pics of that stuff tomorrow.

What do the compression #'s look like? Does it burn oil at all? Do you have maintenance records? Do you have a code reader? Injectors are very expensive. Was 500 the dealer's quote for labor/parts or just the cost for parts?

I haven't run compression on it, there's no need, it runs great. I drive it 700 miles a week, it runs great. The injectors are throwing a misfire code, which turns on the engine light. It doesn't burn oil. Yes, I have maintenance records, at least for the last 75,000 miles. The 500 was what my mechanic told me it would cost. According to the guys over at Audiworld, I can just have him take the injectors off, send them to be serviced/cleaned/balanced, and it will be fine. That will cost about $200. I do not have a VAG-COM. My mechanic has the reader.

Update: I'm buying injectors and a fuel rail from a guy on the Audi forum, so the injector issue will be handled. The only thing the car will need is the clutch, and that will probably last awhile.
Of course, me being the way I am, I'll probably handle that, too.
