Pettit sells a device that is supposed to divert full voltage to the starter. I have no experience with this, just pointing it out

RX7 Starter Booster

How many miles do you have? Other older cars i've owned, I've had to replace the starter. Also, the FD is known to have grounding issues

Some places to possibly rule out...

So for an update on my in cabin coolant leak. I think I found the issue without removing the dash completely. I removed a plastic cover on the heater core and saw that one of the hoses had a little coolant on the edge, so I tried to tighten up the clamp and was able to get it much tighter. I haven't driven her too much yet as the interior is still in a ton of pieces, but I'm hoping it's fixed.

Hope that does the trick. If the hoses are orginal, you should think about replacing them. I'm doing that now, but my engine is out so it's easy.

The previous owner had the entire engine and interior out when he did the turbo swap so I'm not sure if the heater core hoses are new or old. They looked in good shape when I looked at them so they may be new and he just didn't clamp them hard enough. If that's fixed then my biggest issue is resolved. I have to get the engine running smoothly now, just put on a new TPS and I think I need to adjust it a bit as the idle bounces just a tiny bit.

Ugh, TPS is my current issue. I adjust it to spec and days later it's out of spec by at least 20%.

I bought a new one a few months ago and put it on. I know it has to be a certain voltage when the car is at rest, but does the car need to be at operating temp or does it not matter?

wither that or adjust the butterflies/idle. i had to do all 3 when my idle was fucked up. ithought i had to rev it out cause that had seemed to work in the past. and got a speeding ticket for it lol. gotta love rotaries

Car has to be at operating temp (160°+). Voltage has to be at 1V which is 20% of it's sweep range.

So the FD failed inspection today because the airbag was removed. The car has passed for the last 7 years this way by the same guy. Also, it looks like VA has recently implemented an online safety database. That means no more pink inspection slips, it goes straight into the computer. And apparently it causes a reg flag in the system if you go somewhere else and pass. Two years till the car is historic and I have to deal with this ****?

My car is registered in PA (with a classic registration), and my inspection is due in August. I'm assuming that I'll have to take it back there to get inspected, unless I register it in Virginia and then get it inspected here?

'88 is old enough to be historic here in VA as well, so I'd just go that route.

The thing is I don't know how much longer I'll be in VA (contract work). Considering just driving across the PA border to the first shop and getting it inspected

Just drive it with a dead safety or rejection sticker if you don't mind paying the ticket. The inspection on my wife's car has been dead since February, no tix yet.

If you have it and it's not too much trouble that would be awesome. I'm going to try and take the car to another shop and see if they will pass it first so no rush or anything. Thanks!

Just bumping this before it hits page 2! I hope you all have enjoyed your summer season. I actually got to work on my vert a bit and it should be mostly sorted out. I have to finish installing the new carpet, verify the WM works and put the seats in to be back on the road.
