Honestly I'm not the person to ask regarding local car clubs. I'm a grumpy hermit when it comes to social gatherings!!
We *do* have a spring and fall meet up and cruise between the folks in this regional subforum though. Rocky (He's on Toroids) usually hosts it and herds the cats for it. We'll meet up in the morning at an ihop in Gainesville before heading west towards the Blue Ridge Mountains and up Skyline Drive, have lunch in Front Royal and then make further decisions from there

Quite an active 25 hours after nothing for weeks! Where to begin....
Congratulations Levi! The craziest thing I read from you is --- there's nobody around here who you trust to tune the FD so you have to FLY an expert up from FL??!? Where are you at again? It says Nokesville but why did I think Crofton? If I'm around, I wouldn't mind bringing some popcorn and watching this engine get installed, if there's room.
Jack - sorry to hear about your body breaking down on you pal. I know it well. I wish you a speedy recovery. And let's hope you get to keep your little member.
Frank - welcome. You'll fit right in with Jack and Billy Biceps. I don't know of any car clubs other than the Mazda Sportscar Club of Washington DC. Been a good 15 years since I went to a meet though. http://www.mscw.com
ptrhahn - I've had the same experience with Mr Spoiler and bumpers. Soul Red, also a tough color - but Brown's Mazda did a great job after the car got damaged again. Not the bumpers though, bummer. Two-tone cars are making a comeback, I say.
Vlad - wouldn't have pegged you for a Bud Light Lime guy, even in Levi's memories.

Anybody wanna come by mine in a few weeks to drop a motor in my FD with me? I just got an email from Jen :2cute: that they'll be ready to take my car at the end of the month ^_^
Ideally I'll be able to hit up the spring cruise next year and DGRR using... (wait for it).... an actual rotary!!

Good news for my finger. Doc doesn't think I need a graft or anything crazy. Should be able to heal up on it's own. Go back in two weeks for a follow up with him. Glad my brother came up from Tennessee to take me today. Wasn't the most pleasant thing removing the bandage and cleaning it up today.
I appreciate the kind words from everybody. Now wait till next Thursday and my shoulder worked on. This getting old thing sucks.

@JL1834cx Glad that middle finger is out of the way...for now! :P I feel like my workout injuries will come back to haunt me in a few years, I'm already feeling my knee giving out.
@Fc3s.frank the . in your name does not let me tag you so...oh well. You can't tune factory ECU, you unless you have a later car like an RX-8. Go piggy back or more recommended stand alone. Also I am sure Levi is not getting the tuner here, but rather to Cali where the car will be at that time. I am also looking to organize a fly a tuner in locally to get some cars done. Just need to find the time to get interest from folks and I have been doing side jobs on rotaries for a while, not sure if you need once over tune up type of deal or an actual tune if you're running a TII or something.
@Zoolander DON'T JUDGE ME! :P
@fendamonky So the consensus is we are having a meet at your place, while we all take turns drinking alcohol or installing parts on your car?

Duc - I used to live in Crofton, but I moved back to VA about 3-4 years ago.
yeah, I'm pretty selective after having had my car at PFS, Speed1 and IRP. Once I'm done with the break in I'll just get Brian (TitaniumTT) to come up and do the mapping.
I'm in Nokesville, VA. You're more than welcome to come by!
Glad to hear your finger will be ok!!
Like Vlad mentioned, unfortunately the stock ECUs are all locked on these cars. So depending on mods (if any) you'll want a flashed ecu, a piggyback, or a stand alone.
Sounds good to me I'll probably fire up the grill as well ^_^

I have an FC ECU that is chipped, not sure if it will work but yes, check out the forums, typically rich ECU is good, means you can add mods to it and be safe. Bring it by sometime and I can take a look.

That sounds good, I have an s4 so if it’s an s4 Ecu that’ll work I believe, I really don’t plan on crazy mods on the drivetrain if I’m being honest. I’m trying to make the cleanest daily I can so I’m def keeping it na. But I’ll for sure do a streetport if I have to rebuild. Pm me where you’d like to meet I’m free after I get off work at 1 today

If you have an N/A, don't worry about the ECU. Stock will be fine for mods. Exhaust etc. Realistically figure out money first how much to you want to spend. What are your goals. etc. Most cases gutting stock ECU and going aftermarket is the only way to go. It's 25 to 30 years old. Everything about it,is old and close to failure. Putting an AEM infinity class ECU and new harness is almost the only way to go.

Medical update: Finger is healing up rather well. Most of the damage to the finger pad is scabbing over and sensitive as hell. All good signs. Had my shoulder scoped today and it wasn't as bad as doc feared. Lots of inflammation and such. Should heal up sooner than later since he cleaned it all up. Now onto physical therapy and recovery.

@jl1rx7 Good to hear!!!
@fendamonky heard you are trying to meet this weekend, we should push it to next weekend, I have a wedding to attend to Saturday and will be busy Sunday most likely.

Hello everyone,
Just dropping in as I will be in the Fort Belvoir VA area early 2021. I know that is two years from now. Military guy here heading to Korea this coming Feb 2020. I own a 76 Cosmo. I look forward to meeting up and linking in with some rotary head guys like myself.

Where was your car at Peter? I just got home last night after driving to California and back. It was an AMAZING drive, but I wouldn't recommend a 7-day "out and back" to anybody else!!
