Unfortunately the tranny was brand new about a year ago. Not sure what's wrong but it's become a bitch to get into gear under load. Probably cause I let that damn MiataGotBoost guy get too near the clutch.
Has nothin to do with ******* the **** out of the gear box like drag racing

If my I am correct I think I did your clutch and the next day you went 11.69 correct

Actually, no. The day after you did my clutch I went 11.75 so see, before MiataGotBoost, 11.69, after MiataGotBoost, 11.75 - a 6 tenths of 1% increase in time, proof positive, turn off the lights, lock the door, case closed, the glove fits.

It is of course possible, but highly improbable, that repeated powershifts with an occasional **** up from 2nd to 3rd, might have some tiny influence on the matter, but I prefer to blame you.

Tom, dont let the cat out of the bag! It aint easy being that good I also think the 100's of drops, launch's, & power shift's are not a probable cause

There is a difference between being hopeful and delusional.

Does anyone have any pics of the new setup yet? I would love to see what the new shop looks like. Do you think Ray is going to be able to beat Altered's 350 Z's? If he can that will do worlds for his business.

That does not surprise me. When at Import Sports, I never really had any respect for Mike. It always new that he was handed the money for the shop, and he was always dicking around, while his Dad was in the shop sweating over every engine. They always had the "Worlds fastest 3000gt" but nobody really raced a lot of those. I heard that their Z's were nice, but I only heard that about his own. And of course Joe's Supra was done nice, but again, that was Joe's personal car. I don't think they will be able to keep the overhead going much longer. How is your car Ernie? You have that thing ready to put the smack down

Oh yeah, has anyone ever seen the video of Mike and his Dad tuning that NSX they put a turbo on? It is making it's pull and then all of the sudden BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMMMMMMMMMMMM the motor blows. It is pretty tough to get a honda motor to pop like that, but they did a Damn Good Job.

SlingShotRX7,
Yes we do stock performance clutches, I will have to see what we currently have in stock. The labor on clutch job is 5hrs. In the future please call the shop for quotes.

(301)-874-0611

Thanks,
Ray

Ray, not to put you on the spot, but will PFS still be holding to the rule that they won't install competitor's parts? I personally think there's a lot of money to be made in installs, be they of PFS parts or otherwise...

The problem you get into when you bring parts to a shop is what happens if and when they fail? You take it back to the shop, they look at it, perform a diagnostic (customer usually wants this at no charge) which isn't right for the shop. Once they find out its the part defective and not the labor installing it, you then have the manufacter saying it was faulty labor so they can get out of responsibility for it. Thats why most shops won't do it. To many headaches involved.

Ernie, I totally understand that. But I also believe there's a happy medium. IIRC, PFS was very narrow in terms of the outside products they installed: if they used it, they installed it. And usually, they'd have to sell it to you as well. If a PFS part was available, that was the only option. I just think that's too restrictive. What I think would be a happy medium between the two extremes (the other being installing anything from anyone) would be to expand their product base. For example, when I had my tranny out, I thought it would be best to go ahead and put in a lightened flywheel at the time. There are a bunch of options out there...M2, RB, SR, etc, all of good quality, yet Peter said the only one he would install was his own, and thus I couldn't even pick the weight I wanted. Also, when I got some Defi gauges, Peter was hesitant to install them, even though he sells them. When asked why I didn't buy them from him, I told him, the black face are damn near impossible to find...do you have them? Of course he didnt...because at that point, pretty much NO ONE but Jason could source them. Or what if I was tight on money and wanted to buy a quality used part from the forum, even if it was a competitor's part, say an M2 downpipe, or IC? They're not exactly crap. And while I understand it's your competitor's products, I guess that's the problem you run into when being a performance shop that ALSO carries it's own (limited) brand of products too. So given the unique circumstances, I guess within reason, installs of inspected parts that look to be fine and functional shouldn't be an issue, IMO. If there's any doubt about a product's reliability or craftsmanship, a simple waiver will release them of any liability.

As for Peter's response, he simply said why should he install his competitor's parts when they don't sell or install his own? I say, 1) Most of his competitors fabricate parts, but don't run a shop (HKS, Greddy, Blitz, M2 - now that it's gone) etc. 2) Why doesn't PFS market it's products to other shops, like RX7Store, Gotham, RX7Trix, etc? Can't sell what you don't have access to...

Yea, they might have been talking about me. I did take my car to another shop too, which was KD Rotary. I don't really want to post more than that and won't be following this thread. I agree with your statements though FDNewbie.
