Car is at Peter Ferrell's new shop
My cousin and I setup an appointment last week to drop the RX7 off at Peter Ferrell's new shop in Frederick, MD, since it is now open for busniess and have this secondary boost problem fixed once and for all. Its been seven months now since the purchase of the car with it not performing correctly, matter of fact we have yet to feel the true performance of an RX7 because the secondary turbo has never made any boost since the day we brought the car home.
The drive there took about 1hr and 15min from where we live. My cousin was following in his RX7 with me in my MR2. It was a beautiful drive out there with the nice views. When we arrived at the shop, we met Ray who we have been dealing with so far. He was moving some motors and getting the shop ready. The location is great! He also showed us where the dyno was going to be setup. He is a really cool guy and me and my cousin could tell right away he knew his stuff! We talked a little and he test drove the car. He assured us that the car would be fixed. He also said there is a good chance the car would be ready tomorrow. My cousin and I cant wait to feel the car at its true performance, even though the only modifications thus far is exhaust and down pipe. Peter Ferrell was our first choice to take the car to but they had just closed down the Manassas shop, so we were unable to take it there. We then took the car to PBC and they were unable to fix the problem. The car was there about 3 weeks. Please dont get me wrong, they were a nice honest shop and worked hard on our car, but just did not repair it. Ray says he can fix it in 2 days at the most. We are very exited.
Well I just wanted to share our day with you guys, I will be sure to keep you updated on the progress. Lets keep our fingers crossed that soon the car my cousin has worked so hard for comes to life! Thank you.

I think that Ray has really turned the name for PFS turn around. After all of the drama and internet trash talking, it's nice to see that one person and his knowledge and honesty can make such a difference. I have never met Ray, but I know Demetrios and he said Ray is a stand up guy, so I am sure your car is in good hands. I hope that Peter will be a little more friendly and more worried about helping customers than in the past. Anyway, good luck to PFS at their new location.

Glad to see him start over, it's nice with a clean new start. With Ray assisting they have a new team, good for them.
I think they should get Peter back into an FD and start hitting local tracks again just for the major events. I was one of the few that actually saw his old FD head down the 1/4mile way back in the days and it was impressive.
I also always wanted to know how he would cut such good 60ft times in his FD, I know the car used to dip a lot but I think he was cutting low 1.3's, maybe 1.2's.

I pushed to get Peter to do some events when I was still there but we were very busy on other projects. I dont think he has got his car back from Mazda yet. Yes it would be nice to see him rip down the track again and also it would be nice to see Mr. Wilson get back out there and rip it up aswell .

I really just don't understand this. They are just starting over and you have to blast the guy again. Why not just let people make their own decisions without you saying negative comments about the new shop.
I for one am honestly fed up of your posts, just leave it alone. You've made your point over and over and over and over. Now your're going to dedicate a website to show how unhappy customers are? If there were that unhappy they would do it themselves! Why are you the spokesperson?
In some of your last posts you mentioned customers that did not want to be involved with all the drama. I used to think you were here to help the rotary community but your sole purpose on this forum is just negative posts, nothing useful or encouraging.
I have never done business with either of you so I am definitely neutal here but geez, just let things be already. Let customers make their own decisions. You could have just sent the guy a private message if you really cared about the original poster in this thread but you obviously have other motives.
Everyone deserves a 2nd chance, and as you can see from this post, customers are willing to give them a 2nd chance so just let things be, wish them luck and move on.

They have for the past decade bent over backwards to satisfy every one of their Mazda customers, and have established themselves within the last few years as one of the best rotary shops in the area.
There is also Bret DePedro's Rotary Performance shop in Manassas, which also has enjoyed a wonderful reputation for taking care of their customers. As far as Farrell's shop is concerned, when a vast majority (150-200) of RX7 owners from one of the largest Mazda clubs in the country goes out of their way NOT TO patronize a business, alarms should go off in anyone's head. Prior to RR@PBC's existence, many local 7 owners would travel 3 hours to Dave Barninger's KD Rotary shop in Nazareth, PA rather than trust Farrell to work on their cars.
Farrell tried to hire Ray a number of times back when I worked there, having lost excellent technicians Scott Zelinsky, Mitch Piper and Greg O'Connor in the spring of 2000 due to his years of gross mismanagement and fraudulent business practices. Ray may very well be an excellent technician, but I would suggest you watch your wallet and the genuine well-being of your car as long as Farrell is in control of what takes place there.
The Rotary Revolution Entertainment Gallery (visit www.rotaryrevolution.us for more info) is very much a work in progress, but should within the next 60 days have much more information and many more examples of how Farrell has treated his customers over the past several years. I'd be delighted to send you a partial list of many of the people he has taken advantage of in the past.

Good luck on the car 7th. I haven't been around on this forum (or any other), but I've owned an FD since 96. I took my car to PFS once, and swore I will never make that mistake again. I only wish I had such warnings in the past.
Things could change, but I won't be taking any risks like that.
I've only heard good thing about the other shops being mentioned in this thread.

I can't speak for Peter Farrells shop, but I can say that 7thsigns 7 was definetly not the first one that PBC automotive has not been able to repair to date. I had mine in there a couple months ago for a boost problem, they pretty much returned it to me saying I wouldn't want to pay them enough to tear it apart to find the small leak. They were right, so I'm not complaining, but still they weren't able to fix my car.
A couple hours and greasy hands later I fixed it myself, when the engine was rebuilt 5 years ago some moron forgot to put one of the nuts back on the y-pipe. Some of the best shops in california, many mazda dealers, and pbc, couldn't solve it, but anybody who looked hard enough could have solved the problem.
Having said that, my car is going into PBC for downpipe, springs, and fluid change because I liked them and felt they were an honest bunch of guys.

Hey MazdaDriver, you obviously are not in business for yourself or have business sense. Why don't you let sleeping dogs lie. People know the good and the bad of PFS, and I have my own personal encounters. But you know what, he is a business man, and has done A **** LOAD for the RX7 community. PLUS, he has one of the most respected FD guys around in Ray, so let's see what they have to offer, then pass judgements. If you do own your own business, then you would hope that one person wouldn't try to **** all over you for things they "heard." Just my $.02

I might have heard wrong but isnt ray more or less in charge of the shop now? Could someone clarify whats going on?
Either way Im going to be making my appointment for them to tune mine in the near future. I have heard nothing but good things about Ray.

Hmmm, no mention of the customers who have been happy with the products/services of PFS, which is interesting because it's the "silent" majority...
Yeah, Ray is a very personable and knowledgeable guy. For that matter, Peter is also a very cool guy - very interesting to talk to as a racer. He is truly a legendary road racing driver. If you happened to be interested in racing an FD, I would go to him before anyone else I can think of.
Unless it's for a cage, in which case I would go to Mitch Piper.
Anyways, good luck with the car, 7THSIGN. I'm certain they'll get it working for you.

Thanks everybody for the good lucks!
Ok guys, here is the update. Ray contacted my cousin today. One thing he found out that is my cousins motor has been rebuilt by Mazda but cant give an exact date on when. He said that was a plus for us. Now here is the bad news, he checked all the parts that controller secondary boost change over and everything checked out ok. He was shocked. He still wants to check some other things out though. He said Mazda might have missed something on the rebuild or it might just be the secondary turbo. So he is going to call us tomorrow with another update.
Now on a side note. I want people to understand that I did not make this thread to attack Peter Ferrell or his shop. I made it to share information on the new shop and work that is being done on the car. If you have something bad to say about PFS, then please address it in a different thread. Lets not bring the past situations PF has had. Let us give the new shop a chance. I have learned from my cousin by him owning an RX7 that there are really a little number of shops that really know what they are doing. Peter Ferrell and Ray are one of the smartest guys that know our cars. Lets give them a chance. Thank you.
