If you guys can get Steve Kan to come between 15 Dec and 15 Jan than I will put down cash. I have exactly *1* month between returning from the middle east and moving to England. I picked up an FD back in October. It's stock and steady (atm), putting in reliability mods and def want a tune to match.

If you can get Kan to come when I am still here than I will help fund, no problems.. (tax free pay builds up when there is no place to spend it..) Traveling to get a tune is no prob.. got family in Reston, DC and Crofton.. I need to visit them before I move anyway...

I let Steve know; I'll let you guys know once he gets back to me.

Thanks!

PS: On that note, anyone friendly w/ a shop in Northern VA that has a dyno? The place I'm cool w/ has a Mustang dyno, so I'd rather not use that.

I know this is off topic, but i know your PM's are usually full so;

Have you tried getting a hold of Ultimate Performance in Sterling?

703-435-5000

I used them to dyno my car when i first got it. I know they mostly do AWD cars cause they are connected with Mach V, but they do work on other cars as well.

I haven't tried 'em yet b/c I dunno them What kinda dyno do they have? I wanna avoid a Mustang dyno at all costs, and it would be nice if we could find a place w/ a Dynapack (safest way to go IMO).

Oh and my inbox wouldn't be full 24/7 if ppl would STOP PMING ME ABOUT PARTS! lol. I'm trying to keep that via email ONLY, and personal matters only via PM. But so far, it's not working very well...

Don't know about the kind of dyno machine they have, but FCCT is another good call. They did all the work to the Mustang.

If "FCCT" is Ferrari's, they have a dyno jet. I had a my car run there, and they seem to be amenable to private groups coming in. The only prob is it seems to take them a while to get each car set up on the dyno.

Ok I spoke w/ Steve, and he's game. Here's what I got:

Date: From the feedback I've gotten from most ppl, I think the best date would be Saturday, January 6, 2007.

Cost:
- Tuning: $350 flat fee, $100 of which MUST be received immediately to reserve a spot, and is NON-refundable.
- Dyno Time: The dyno time costs are additional, and this amount will be stated once we agree on the basics here (at which point I'll start an official thread for the tune session). But roughly it'll be about $100.

Minimum # of cars: 5 - 6. If we don't get enough deposits early on enough, the tuning session won't happen. So I can't emphasize the importance of receiving the deposits promptly to ensure we have enough cars to proceed.

If we get 7 or more cars, we'll be able to get Steve to stay for an extra day (Sunday). Steve can tune pretty much ANYTHING, so it doesn't have to be a PFC; in fact, it doesn't have to even be a rotary.

Location: depends on whether ppl care for or against a Mustang Dyno. But it'll most probably take place in the Sterling, VA area.

Mustang Dyno:
- Pros: Quicker setup time.
Cons: Not as safe as a Dynapack (straps can tear, car can jump off dyno), and you'll make about 20% less power on a Mustang dyno.

Dyanpack
- Pros: Exact power you're putting down to the wheels, and safe (no chance for the car jumping off the dyno, as the wheel hub/rotors are DIRECTLY attached to the dyno).
- Cons: Longer setup time, and you have to remove your wheels, so if you forget your wheel locks, no dyno...

That's the jist of it. If everyone's game w/ the date and the price

Post up, lets see what you guys think, and hopefully we can get something set up for sure soon.

Thanks!
~Ramy

I'm game. Count me in!

How do you need payment, and what method are we going to use in order to secure spots for the tune?

I'm sending you a PM aswell Ramy, please respond to confirm that you recieve it.

Count me in ! but I dont need to be on the dyno for a cool weather tune. Just a street tune is good for now. But count myself and Scott in for a tune.

If this works out Ramy, we need to get him out when the weather get warm again

Might be worth scheduling him a little later in the new year when everybody has completed their winter modding installs.

In Sterling:

Curry's (by OG Racing) has a Mustang, Ferrari's (FCCT) has a Dynojet. I don't know anyone with a dynopak.

I know from other posts that Steve can tune anything, and tune well, but should I get most of my mods done before letting him loose on my car? I don't mean to downgrade any shop or mechanic, but to get a tune from Steve then later take my car to PFS for future mods, won't that be counterproductive?

Mike, did you get a PFC ?

It may be worth a street tune , but yeah if you are doing the mods we spoke about, its going to need a new tune when PFS is done.

If your going to have Ray do more mods, then just have him tune it too. Ain't nobody better. Nuff said...but yes you have to wait a bit...lol..

Yeah I've had the PFC for about a year now and Ray did the first tune when I went up last time. I'll be adding quite a few things after X-mas, so if I can get on Ray's list that should put me at having all the work done around...March??? Jeez I hope so.

Well, thanks for the guidance fellas. Maybe I'll drop in while you guys are getting tuned.
