*NEW* Steve Kan tuning session Nov.
This is just a feeler thread to see how much interest there is for a tuning seesion ON or AROUND NOVEMBER 11-12 at Car V2 in Wilmington Delaware. I will need five deposits to make it official, but prefer anywhere between 6 to 10 so we can make it a two day event. After the tuning session last weekend I have received some interest in another session. Also please do not wait until the last minute to get your deposits in, as I can not guarantee you a spot.
Tuning would begin at approx. 10 A.M. and run until everyone is complete, unless I get enough people for two days (7 or more). The price for Steves services are WELL worth it, I haven't seen a single person who has regretted spending the small fee to KNOW your car is running right and making the power it should. Anyone worried about running lean with the new Ethanol fuels should consider a re-tune as well. So here are the numbers everyone wants to know.
Steve kan tune
Deposit w/paypal: $105
Deposit w/check: $100
total Tuning price: $350 - $100 deposit = $250 day of (Cash)
paypal - eplondon3@netscape.net
Car V2 dyno pricing
hourly: $130
Most cars only take about an hour, and even if you run over they're not too strict about it. The time starts when Steve starts tuning.
Cash is preferable for dyno time and day of payments. Dyno tuning is not required, but is recommended. Compared to street tuning, dyno tuning offers safety, ease of diagnostics and you get to see what kind of numbers your car is actually making! Also you get to stand around while Steve does all the work Street tuning you have to risk car problems on the road, a ticket or worse, an accident.
A few things you should consider doing before coming to the tuning session
- Oil change
- Coolant flush
---Replace spark plugs--- (A must)
- Fix all fluid leaks
- tranny and diff oil change
--- Compression check --- (also a must)
please please please have this stuff done before you come to the session. I don't want to see people changing your engine in the parking lot half the day. If you wait until you arrive to change your plugs thats fine, but make sure you do it shortly after you arrive.
Depending on what ECU you have and what you want to turn the boost up to make sure you have an adequate MAP sensor. 3bar GM sensors will be available if ordered ahead of time through me. The price for the sensor is $100 and if you'd like it installed I can do that for an additional $25.
Also, please remember Steve is here to tune not fix your problems. He can fix minor stuff but we don't want to spend two hours trying to diagnose a problem. If we run into a problem with your car Steve will look at it, but after a few hours he may start charging for his time.
I hope I don't sound too strict, but sometimes I have to set some gorund rules so it's not total chaos the day of tuning. Then people would be really unhappy.

It's only a little over two months. If it was any sooner people may not have enough time to prepare. Steve has seven stock to go to the last weekend in Oct. and he'll only travel every other week, so thats how we got to this date
Just to let everyone know the dyno we will be using is a Dyno Pak as opposed to a dynoJet or Mustang dyno which are on rollers. The dyno pak actually mounts onto the hubs of the car and is much safer and more accurate.

I hope to make this and will be putting in a deposit once sept's bills go by. (I have a few more than usual this month ) I have a couple of questions though. Is this tuning just for pure power, or will he beable to clean up idle and cruising stuff? currently I'm stinking rich at idle and the car has minor stumbling when letting of slightly from a cruise.
2nd question. I have the pfc, but no datalogit. Will there be one shared or will someone beable to share their's and their labtop? I'm sure it makes tuning much easier.

As long as it is a Saturday I will be there just to hang. I wouldn't pass this up if I am any of you contemplating it. Not only will your car get tuned for power and driveability, but you get to chill at a great shop, with a great tuner, and some fun RX7 people. It was the first real meet I've been to and I had a great time. I left home at 8:45am and didn't get home till 12:30am LOL The wife was a little irritated

This tuning session is to make sure everything is running right...including idle and driveability. The focus of the session is not purely power but everything together. After the car comes off the dyno Steve usually asks customers to take it out for a ride to make sure everything is to your standards, and if it's not then he will work with you to resolve the issue.
I'm gonna try to work a meet into this tuning session as well, as long as it doesn't get too cold outside.

P.S.
1 spot has already been reserved and I know of two more that are pretty much spoken for.

Unless you are interested in getting your car tuned please do not ask these types of questions here. This thread is for parties interested in having a vehicle tuned, not tax audits.
BTW, how did you read abou these "tuning sessions" when you just joined this month? Funny.....also you're from Texas thats wierd is Texas in the NE? Anyway If you're looking to get tuned I'm taking deposits.

Judging from the amount of tuning sessions I have seen on here and the prices discussed, this Steve Kan must be pocketing a ton of unreported income.

second, quite clear this is a rotary shop owner, or one of his followers, trying to start trouble.
third, like ANY shop in the U.S. ..... or privately owned business for that matter, doesn't skim under the table to make money and buy things on the side.
fourth, SOP for a gov't office trying to catch any form of federal offense would by no means in hell take the type of action you just did. They wouldn't need to make the accusations you did, if they had any evidence they wouldn't have to bother making a comment, the person would get a visit at their door.
