Wideband failure, and suggestions for mufflers?
Hey guys,
I just got my Solo car built and running. It's a freshly built stock 89-91 13B which is mostly stock but it has a (can't mention the name here) header into two cats, a resonator and a straight-through muffler. The whole system is 3" stainless pipe from the megaphone off the header to the rear tip. The resonator is a Vibrant straight through perforated core "glass pack" (but with stainless packing) style resonator with a pretty small body - about 4" diameter and 10" long. So it's not doing much. The rear muffler is a 20" long, 6" body diameter Magnaflow with stainless packing.
The thing is LOUD. It sounds good, but it's too loud. I was thinking of moving the magnaflow to where the resonator is (just aft of the cats) and then getting a different rear muffler. Some have suggested getting a "turbo style" muffler instead of the straight through style. Suggestions?
Second, I picked up a used Innovate LC-1. I wired it up per the instructions and it's connected to pin 3F of my Rtek ECU. The output of the brown wire (Analog 2) is supposed to range between 0 and 5V, but after the sensor warms up it reads a constant 1.6V, whether the car is running or not. Anyone ever seen this behavior before? Is it possible the sensor is just toast? It was previously used on a turbo RX-8 so it could have been overheated.
Thanks for any suggestions.

No wideband answers for you, but I do have a solution for you on the noise issue. As you state, move the Magnaflow into the midpipe and loose the crappy resonated one as they don't work and then add any style muffler you wish. You will be pleasantly surprised with the results. I run this setup with a Greddy tailpipe and no more noise problem! The car used to be so bad my head would buzz for about an hour after driving the car but no more
