semi p-port

Haha thanks, Here's some pics of it in the car. I'm still working on the intake pipes. The outside throttlebodies line straight up with the side ports, but the p-ports don't, so I'm gunna have to figure something out for that. The intake runners are going to be about 6" inches long, I think thats using the either the 3rd or 4th reflective value. I still have to get an exhaust, wire-up megasquirt, and get oil cooler hoses made and then I'll be pretty close to starting it up. I really hope it runs! It turns over smooth and has some good sounding puffs! Has anybody who has put a distributor in an S5 engine had troubles with the trailling ignitor hitting the altenator bracket. I had to bend a bow in mine so it would clear. Anybody got any suggestions for a way to muffle this thing without so much back pressure? Also, does anybody know how to get the S5 omp to work with megasquirt or if it's even possible? I plan on pre-mixing, but I also want the omp to get oil to the center of the apex seals.

looks like somebody's been really busy.
your engine is looking good, man. i like the paint theme, too - it's sort of fitting, i guess. anyway, i'm just glad to see you making steady progress.
as far as your intake is concerned, maybe look to the Rx-8 for inspiration. that might get you some ideas. the streetports look really good! i'll send you some pics of mine.
as for me, i got my epoxy about 2 weeks ago. i may be PM-ing you on how to mix and use it, actually. i hope to do my sleeves within the next week or so. perhaps i need to get my own thread going instead of mixng my crap with your stuff. anyway, i'm happy for you, man. i can't wait to see it running.

Thanks for the kind words. I still have to get the oil cooler hoses made, (I can't find anyone with metric hose fittings) get the intake made, and wire up megasquirt. For the epoxy I cleaned the area with soap and water roughed it up with some sand paper and then cleaned it with rubbing alcohol. The case said to mix 4:1 by volume and then I just used a spoon to pack it in there.

i got the spoon idea as one of my morning epiphanies. so i'm glad it worked for you. i guess i'm just spazzing because i've never worked with epoxy before. thanks for the input. mine (epoxy work) should be done by the end of the weekend.

The RX-3 is in hibernation back in Texas. I am however freshening up the motor out of it and building a "good" motor for it while i am up here. I will tell you that it will be packed full of all kinds of high dollar goodness

Hey, I'M having troubles getting it started. It turns over and starts to catch every once and a while, but never starts up? Does any body have ant advice for geting a rebuild to start? Thanks

what ECU are you using?
whats your cranking ignition advance, is your ECU getting a good reading from the CAS?
Have you pulled the plugs out and put a cap full of 2stroke in each rotor?

congratulations on getting this far, man. i'm soooo excited for you. for now, all i can say is play around with the CAS (or distributor, since that's what's pictured) it may be a tooth off. i had some issues starting a motor i built a couple years ago and Seafoam actually did the trick once i got the timing issues sorted.

Well I'm using megasquirt, but for some reason the tps is reading 99% all the time and going into flood clear out mode. So I was having to spray gas in using a squirt bottle. That could be part of the problem, but I though that it would it atleast maybe start up a little bit. I have the distributor set at TDC right now, I haven't really messed with adjusting the timing too much. Will advacing the timing help it start a little better? I bought some gear oil to put in it, cause I probably washed all the assembly lube out of the engine with the fuel. I plan to put it in, mess with the timing, and try and get the TPS signal fixed next time i get a chance to work on it. Thanks for the help

Edit: when you open the throttle dose the TPS reading go down? If so you just wired it in reverse.

The tps is acting weird cause the reading doesn't do anything when i move the throttle. I was even switching around the 5v and signal wire and it just kept on reading 99%, I'll have to check out my wiring. I'll look for some 2 stroke oil, thanks

Well i took some video but the batteries in my damn camera kept dieing. I'll try and put them up anyway and try to get some better video. The engine is running open headers right now and my neightbors absolutely HATE ME! The engine still has alot of breaking in to do. I've only ran it like a total of an hour maybe and gotten it warmed up twice. It's still hard to start cold, but once it warms up it starts pretty good.
