EGTs

I've began tuning my RX-7 and am wondering what target EGTs are under various conditions.

My setup is as follows:
- Streetported (Mazdatrix template) S5 13B engine, fresh rebuild
- Electromotive TEC 3 standalone - 640cc primaries, 4x RX7 trailing coils fired individually
- 15deg split at 500rpm linearly reduced to 0deg at 8000rpm.

I have a Stewart Warnet EGT gauge with the probe mounted in the rear primary about 1" from the header flange.

I'm currently seeing 800deg F at idle and about 1200-1400deg F under sustained cruise.

I'm interested in hearing what EGTs you guys are seeing. Some information regarding your setup would be appreciated also!

Ok... I'll make it easier for you guys

I'm seeing 1400-1500deg F at 3000-4000rpm light throttle cruise. Too hot? I think I'm going to take 5deg of advance out across the board.

My RX8 runs upwards of 1650 at redline so yours might not be too bad depending on the load. A light cruise isnt that descriptive as far as engine stress. Im not as sure with the fuel maps on the RX7 but on my 8 it will cool down a bit at 4000 when the ports open and the secondary injectors throw more fuel in the engine. If you have a wideband take it a little higher. anything over 1600 at less than WOT would be reason for alarm
