A friend of mine has a 300hp+ 13B-T miata. ***** so rad.

I think I might end up just doing a TII swap because I'd like to keep the car some kind of streetable. Plus the power band is better.

I know its been a couple months since it was asked, but no, the RX-8 eccentric shaft will not drop right in. Do a quick search and you'll find plenty of info on it and the real reason its being retrofitted into our cars.

That "crappy" intake, whether you're referring to the s4 or s5 one, is made for torque. For some reason I thought you drifters actually liked torque, how odd.

Long thin intakes that generate high airspeed are excellent for torque. No offense, but the stock mazda intake is a compromise, that's a little uncompromising to boot. The open portion is literally choked off by coming into contact with the hood. On top of that that overall intake is both long and wide, attempting to generate a great deal of air at high speed through a large space. The result is yes, the air has a little more time to speed up before being sucked in, but only a little. A properly designed intake is a dramatic improvement when designed either for torque or horsepower.

Either way its much better than the choppy mass airflow generated by the RX7 stock unit, sorry, the interior is friggin ribbed. You obviously know jack all about airflow. Or you're just a troll, either way.

My na s5 with coilovers, header, straight pipe, open six portt, intake, block off plates, motor running strong, welded diff and it drifts fine. I have very little problems with breaking it loose. I can spin 15,16 and 17. Motor has 170k miles

K!NCH what kind of diff are you running? I'm pretty sure mine has a worn out clutch type lsd. I haven't had time to pull it out yet since I've been busy with paint. I was going to try and shim it but everyone else has been telling me to just weld it?

Out of curiosity will a S4 Turbo II tranny bolt up to S4 N/A motor (+Turbo II drive shaft and rear end)?

yes a S4 Turbo II tranny will bolt up to S4 N/A motor you would just need a turbo flywheel and clutch, turbo slave cylinder and turbo starter

Just stock GTU diff. Probs the original. I want to get a 1.5way or something but that seems silly on an na rear + na power.

Thanks! Yea that's what I was getting at with my question. I would feel a lot better spending money on a real LSD for the Turbo rear end. That way down the road I could just drop the turbo engine in and go.

But for now I'll probably try to shim my diff and run it till something breaks

I've been running my stock diff for 4 years. So far so good.

same here. I only upgraded to the turbo2 trans because my 1st gen NA syncros were going bad (FB trans in FC chassis) and I wanted the taller gear ratios for the newer engine 'build' that went in it.

Trans held up fine, I've never snapped an axle or blown a diff and it sees frequent off road use/abuse. I dunno what people talk trash about the strength on NA drive-train components, granted I don't have a 300hp car.

the only time the diff doesn't work, is during ice racing.

after about .7 miles on the lake, the diff is a 1 wheel peel.

tokico blues with integra 4 door springs cut down on rear, 86 rear subframe (no rear steer) welded diff and up front stock shocks with old tanabe gp210 lowering springs, removed ps the right way and used washers on ps rack for lil more angle, f/r sturt braces. rb header with custom system and s5 intake swap only power adders i got along with solid mounting trans, diff, motor, put the car on a diet i ditched ac and ps along with sound deadening i'm running low pros on 16s slides well imo

i daily drive and drift a half-*** amateur street ported na s4 6port 13b with straight pipe and hks filter adapter. tII lsd and coilovers, some custom adjustable rear suspension links and dtss elim bushings, and weight reduction to a comfortable dd level. (carpet no insulation, no rear interior except stock carpet layed over metal, a/c and dash gutted,no stereo, bumper reinforcements pulled, weighed in at 2100ish in south lake tahoe refuse scale)

the right wheels and tires seemed to be the biggest difference in being able to drift. now i just need more angle.

its simple and reliable and unlike most tII's mine has been drifting for all five+ years i've owned it with nearly zero problems and needs no more maintenance than any other rotary car.
