watch out parking in boulder...
watch out if you park on the streets in boulder, they'll tow your car illegally...
since i don't want to pay the 300 bucks for an on-campus parking pass, i park in the public parking up the street a couple of blocks from me. sometimes you can't park in certain places because they are redoing the sidewalks, but it's always well-marked. but then they decide that marking it isn't necessary...since it's a walk to my car, i only go to it once or twice a week. i parked my car in my usual spot on monday at about 1am, and went to get it again today at about 6 pm. but, i get there and find out that it's been towed! and there are the signs, indicating the impending roadwork.
i ask a guy in the house who is next to the sidewalk, and he said that the signs went up sometime yesterday! the law says that they must give 72 hours advance warning, meaning that the signs would have to have been up at 8 am on saturday. they certainly were not there when i dropped my car off early monday morning. what's worse is as i'm talking to the police department, they say that the public works claims that they put the signs up on friday and maintained them all throughout...which is a complete lie! i couldn't believe it!
so, i finally got my car out of impound and back home. 120 bucks! now, off to appeal hearings! i have signed statements from the residents stating that there were no signs until monday. i can't believe it, in the middle of finals week, i spend 5 hours and 120 bucks getting my car out of impound...and it was put there illegally in the first place...ugh.

That sucks *** man. I feel for you. My car was towed from in front of a clutch shop and I had to pay 160 in cash in the middle of the night just to get my car back. I was pissed but at least they were kinda nice.
