Steve Kan in Denver on May 17th / 18th
For the last 4 years now, we have brought a tuner to Colorado to tune. I myself do not need a tune on my car, howeverpd I have been asked by a few members here in Colorado to try and set up a Steve Kan tuning session this time. This will be the first time Steve will hold a tuning session here but he is no stranger to tuning at elevation as Albuquerque is similar to Denver.
Here is Steve's prices for tuning....(prices already include plane ticket....dyno charges additional
$350 - Stock turbo up to 12psi of boost (pump gas only) 1 map
$400 - aftermarket turbo up to 16psi of boost (pump gas only) 1 map
$450 - aftermarket turbo from 16psi - 25psi of boost (race gas and/or auxiliary injection only) 1 map
$600 - aftermarket turbo up to 25psi of boost (pump gas and race gas tune) 2 maps
Here is the estimated time frame allocated for each type of tuning.
stock turbo - 45 mins - 1.5 hrs
aftermarket turbo (pump gas) 1hr - 2.5 hrs
aftermarket turbo (race gas and/or auxiliary injection) 2 - 4hrs
aftermarket turbo (2 maps) 3-6 hrs
We are shooting to schedule a tuning date sometime in late spring. The quicker we can come up with 7 people who are interested the quicker I can set a date and get $50 deposits from people.
Name / Type of Engine Management / Time Frame you will be ready
Status of Confirmed for tuning
1. MichaelB145 / Power fc / Paid $50 deposit for $600 up to 25lbs 2 maps
2. James / Power Fc / Paid $50 deposit for $350 stock turbos
3. Glen from WY / RTEK7 / paid $50 via paypal/ not sure what kind of tune
4.
5.
1. MichaelB145 / Power fc / May
2. Glen / RTEK7 2.1 / May is good, let me know when you know.
3. John Davis / Power FC / May (I should be ready)
4. Doug / Power FC / May (Maybe)
5. Rich / Power FC / (Maybe)
6. Miguel Greddy / RX-8 w/ single turbo (as long as Steve can tune it)
7. Chance TII / not sure what EMS
8. Matt TII / HKS F-con (maybe)
9. Akina303 maybe if he gets wiring harness
10. Cohbra (maybe but unlikely)
11. Wankle7 (not sure if May 16th - 19th will work for him)
12. John Red R1 w/ Power FC
Things to do before you get tuned!
- Put new spark plugs in. Most cars will use BUR9EQ's all the way around.
-If over 14 lbs of boost, then buy B10EGV or BR10EIX - You can also use 11's if very high boost.
-Replace your fuel filter as it should be replaced every year to be safe
-Oil change before tune wouldn't hurt
-Make sure you don't have any vacume leaks
Call me if you need someone to do the work for you.

I'd love to.... but I still don't have my motor, it's still at precision... hopefully soon they'll finish it and I can put my car together.
Anyhow I might be down for some low boost tuning, unless he comes out in the summer then my motor will be broken in and I'll go for a high boost tune with a/i using a pfc.

Hey guys,
its been a good 5-6 yrs since I was in Denver area (last time I raced there). It would be fun to go back again sometime this year.
Like Mike said, I will be available in May time frame. This should give you guys plenty of time to get your car ready.
If any of you have any questions, feel free to PM me. I'll try my best to answer your questions.

Where are all these people who said they wanted Steve Kan out here so bad! LOL I'm guessing I'm going to have to get on the phone and start calling everyone. I'm going to have to wait till I have more time!
I'm almost positive Glen from WY will be in, same with Matt with FC, and Matt Emmi from Boulder with his FD. If we end up being short on people, I will probably also jump in for a tune as it couldn't hurt!

I updated the list......I know Matt with FC said he would be down when his motor is done and same with Cody so there is a possible of 2 more.
If we are going to bring him out we need to get people to let us know soon so we can schedule something quickly!

I'm in if I can get my car done in time but i seriously doubt it.
I wanted Steve to do my last tune but I guess we couldn't get him out here last year. I ended up with a blown motor about 3 weeks after having it done last year.
Anyone know how long it takes to get a new motor from Pineapple?

I'm thinking the end of May to be safe. We still need others to chime in and let us know they are in. I have 2 people that are building there engine now that need to get done before I schedule something.

I'm still looking for 2 others to give their deposits to secure a spot. Send $50 to MichaelB145@aol.com via paypal with your full name, phone number, what type of ECU you have, and what car.
I will contact you for more details on the tune!

I just got my new site running. If anyone have tuning questions, scheduling, and FAQ on what to do prior to the tuning session. Please register yourself and ask me on my forum. I'm trying to make this easier for every group to schedule tuning session and also provide a place for EFI specific tuning questions.

Are the above boost levels (psi), quoted for sea level - absolute psi,, or relative psi for us in denver? \
Note:In Denver we are about 2.8psi absolute lower than sea level
