Denver? where to live?

Company just opened a new base out there and was thinking of making the move .

I would be working out of dia and centinil airport. Being closer to the airport would be nice but it isny everything since that area is a bit limited.

Looking to rent maybe 800 to 900 a month with a one bedroom and a big garage if possible.

So what is it like there? Kick *** mtn biking and snowboarding.

Are there any road courses for track days?

How is the rx7 scene. Maybe I should post in the regional section :p

You will love it here! You can't drive your car year round like you can in TX though. However, I do drive my FD at least once every month since it can snow one day and be sunny the next.

The Mountain roads are unbelievable to drive out here! And one of the best is similar to Deals Gap and is only 30 minutes away! As far as a Road Course, we are limited as there are only 2 that I know of and both are about 2 hours away. However, we are building a track right now that is only 50 minutes from DIA. Check it out at www.ringoftherockies.com Half the track is for members only and half will be rented out. Its being designed by Herman Tilke which is known to be the best track designer in the world. This will be the first time he has designed a track in the US. Once the track is open, I will be working with Ryan Scott to bringing out a Seven Stock type event here to Colorado!

As far a our Rotary Community, it pretty much didn't exist 5 years ago after the Intermountain RX-7 club dissolved. I started up the Mile High Rotary Club and we now have 140 people in it. 70 of which are FD's. We hold Rotary meets 4 times a year and get together with the rest of the import community weekly!

Dude, thanks for all the info!

I am going to fly up there tomorrow morning and stay Sunday/Monday and drive around like a mad man and make a decision on this.

What do you do about emissions testing? Looks like a nice PITA!

I live in Denver..it's really slow here, nothing going on on Sundays or after 8pm. You can hardly find a restaurant after 6. Lots of Amish and mennonites and noone knows how to drive. except for me, of course.

I was just about to post about the whole nothing going on! LOL

Anyways....for emmissions you just need to register the car in a county that has no emmissions. Most of us just get a PO Box in that county.

When you come out, there are Sunday night meets if your interested. Email me at MichaelB145cell@yahoo.com and it will come to my Blackberry.

Centennial Airport. Cool. Spent some time there, my brother is interning for the Airport Authority there. It's a pretty fun place, with lots of cool planes there. There is a guy who owns a P-51, and a Texan. He races them at Reno, and also has about 10 engines too. Lotso' money.

At any rate, 2nd creek raceway is probably one of the better places to go for racing.

I haven't been there since 2000 or so. But there are also a lot of cool cars out there.

Denver is more expensive to live in than Dallas. So be ready for the inflation hit. The traffic there sucks too. So be ready to deal with a bunch of idiots in SUV's.

You would have a difficult time trying to find a house for 800 to 900 a month with a garage. I'm not sure what the housing market is like right now in Denver it may have recessed some with pricing, but my father works in real estate and deals with Texans a lot who have a hard time trying to adjust with finding what they want to pay for a home in Denver because of the cost of living and inflation differences.

I would probably say...reluctantly 800 to 900 a month could probably get you an apartment or a condo if you're looking for something with a garage. A lot of this just depends on where you are looking at living too.

800 to 900 a month probably will not get you a house. Unless you are ok with living in the shady parts of town. I'd say the median for rent is about 1200(conservative low figure) to more like 14-1600.

There are a few places by Centennial you could live at. North Denver is the most affordable when it comes to house/condo/apartment pricing. But the commute would kill you.

I moved here to try to off-set the difference a little bit.
