My engine blew up on Sunday, due to a wastegate line failure. I am out of the rotary game...

On to the LS1-2-6

I'm only interested in a dyno tune so I'm in.

Thanks Ryan.
We still need 1 more person to reach Steve's 5 person minimum. Spread the word, Im pretty sure Steve will tune more then just rotary motors.

Everyone remember deposits are due by may 1st (in Steve's hands by may 7th) start saving up, we need to get this together!

Put gear oil in the tranny and diff, turn the brake rotors, fix my turbo oil feed leak, a couple fuel leaks and wire the alternator. . .

That's all I NEED to do.

I still need to rewire the brakes lights, some gauges, headlights, put the front bumper on, install the hood catches, other crap that doesn't matter really. I'll drive around without lights, registration, a bumper or hood all day

I'm locked into the #4 spot hard. When do we send the deposit? and where in ABQ is Steve going to tune and run our cars? I-25 was not be safest place to tune and run because of all the traffic.
What happended to Bill Miles and his 1st gen; I heard he needs a tune bad.

Thngs Still To DO-
Have the injectors clean, the t40r ballbearing with .96. Sean's set up bolted right up to my exhaust. Had to dremmel the motor mound down some, but it slide in real pretty. Need some oil feed and return lines made. Been reading about oil pellet restrictors to slow the 80-110 PSI coming from the engine to the turbo. A couple of sic gauges to mount and connect. Two O2 sensors need 'budding' in. Other than that list. I'll be rolling and smoking.

If we can't find a fifth, will Steve cut us some slack and come out anyway? I would hate to miss this opportunity because we can't find one more person that needs a tune.

We still have our date saved.. for you guys doing street tuning it will be up to you where you feel it is safe to tune.. I personally suggest dyno tuning.. but its up to you.
Deposits are due May 7th.. so get your asses in gear.. I will try and call steve tomorrow to see how he feels about only 4 people, but for his sake lets still try and find a 5th. Ill also talk to Chris at Dyno edge to get a price on dyno time for the three of us.

If you guys have any questions PM me because it sends me an Email.. sometimes I forget about this thread for a few days at a time...

This is a bummer. I don't know anyone who needs a tune. I'll post on Racing Southwest to see if I can generate some interest.

I just got my new site running. If anyone have tuning questions, scheduling, and FAQ on what to do prior to the tuning session. Please register yourself and ask me on my forum. I'm trying to make this easier for every group to schedule tuning session and also provide a place for EFI specific tuning questions.

I posted this thread in the Racing Southwest Event forum. I think it's about two weeks too late though.

Chuck, I fully agree with Candice. Dyno tune with us rather than trying to throw something together on I-25.

BEG TO DIFFER !!
Street tuning is great and more realisitic if you ask me ( which you didnt ). The only difference is that you get some cool pics and specs which is worth it if you want those. I feel that as far as tuning is concerned street is better any way. You feel more there and Steve did a FREAKING OUTSTANDING JOB on my car. Anyone that rode in my car after steve tuned it knows that street tunig is an outstanding option!! I didnt need a printout of what my car can do because i feel it and see it when i line up. Plus you drive your car on the street not a dyno where you can feel all the small sputters and kinks.

Steves expertise and knowledge combined are what makes street tuning an incredible option!!!!!

But this is just me.....
lol

This is a public forum and you can say whatever you want .

Difficult to say. My friend tuned his Evo on the street, and he did a very good job. When he took it to Colorado for a professional tuning session they found 35 more horsepower. It would have been difficult to quantify the extra gain with a butt dyno alone, but for him the extra 35 horses were worth the extra cost.

There's also the hassle of finding a decent stretch of road with little traffic and no cops. With the price of a speeding ticket you could have purchased an hour of dyno time.

Street tuning is definitely a good option. Your car feels great! The only problem is when people ask, "So how much horsepower does it make?", your best answer is only a guess. It's true that you'll never get a 100% accurate rear wheel HP reading due to inconsistency in the way different dynos take measurements, but some numbers are better than no numbers and it's a great way to see if those last 25 horses are real or only imagined.

I asked Steve some turbo questions, but more importantly, asked if the 4 for street tune kicked in an additional $100 apiece, if he'd come out for us. That would make up for the lack of a 5th. It has to be worth his time, after all, it is his business and livelyhood (sp?). I would want additional time for the extra, but that would be fair all around.

And how come you are not our 5th, oh opinionated one?? YOu still have a few RX-7s don't you, even though you don't have a T04R single.

This was a good idea. If we can't find a fifth person, looks like Steve is willing to do this. Is this ok with everyone else?
