Steve Kan Tuning in MN-Is there enough interest?

Made it home. Going to spend most of the night fixing things. I'm not going to have it tuned, It just isn't ready. I'll catch him in the Bay area when he is there. I still plan on stopping by.

Only three cars were tuned. The fellow from ND blew his so he could not make it.
One got 506 rwhp with pump gas and 21psi, one 457 rwhp at 19 psi pump gas and I don't remeber what the other fellow got, I think about 375 at 14psi on pump gas and t78.
Anyway, a great event with nice weather. Howard Coleman showed up from Green Bay, WI. He built the motors on the high powered cars that were tuned.
I could be wrong on my recollection.
They can post their own comments.
They have dyno sheets to prove the #s.
I have videos and jpgs for those that want them.
Just e-mail me your e-mail address and I'll send them to you.

Thanx,

I made 500 flat on the tune. But hey ken send me some vids of what you got I didnt get much on my car cause my camcorder ran out of battery. my email is bruceltoue@hotmail.com I will be posting my dyno sheet as soon as MA performance sends ito my email. But I was very happy with steve's tune, although my wastegate spring was maxed out causing my to not be able to bost any more cause it wasnt holding boost. But yes like ken said my car was built by Howard Coleman and also my frinds car that made 457hp. Our cars were built and ported with howard coleman ports. Thats what I like to call it. The howard coleman ports. LOL.
But here are my thanks to the people that helped me get here. Thanks to Howard he built me a great and realiable strong motor and for his help and supports. Howard you are the MAN!!!
Much thanks to Steve Kan for coming out to mn and doin what he does best. Steve you rock and so does your tuning. One day Im gonna have to steal your tuning knowledge. LOL But yeah steve thanks alot for your time and effort for making my car run healthy and strong. Maybe next time we can push my car to 600hp LOL.
Umm Also much thanks to MA Performance for their help. These guys are great and are very helpful. Fun guys to know also. Went crusing with them on saturday night at porkys. I recommend going to tune and dyno there. If you run into problems These guys will help. Great crew over there. I like it and was very satisfied with their service there.
But I will let you guys know with my dyno sheet as soon as I get it.

Sorry guys that i couldnt make it. I was up at 5:30am on Sat putting new plugs in and getting the car ready. I was just starting to put it on the trailer and the car died. I could not get it started to save my life I worked on it til noon. I found out that I lost compression in the front rotor again. I dont know why this keeps happening. I think I am going to have to get a new short block. anyways sounds like you guys had a good time. awesome numbers too.

Apex seals are good. I think my front iron is bad. I am talking to Howard Coleman right now, we are talking about having him rebuild it. I dont have the time or the patience anymore.

here's Bruce's sheet... very very impressive in that not only did he make big top end power but the spool is extremely good. i rank spool by looking at rpm to make 200 rwhp. 4300 is 400 earlier than many 500 hp rigs. the car should be a street rocket. top number was boost limited as he ran out of spring.
Seng's run was limited as he hadn't gotten a chance to add additional methanol nozzles. he had 500 v Bruce's 1260 CC/Min
of course both cars ran good old pump gas and methanol. 'can't beat it.

It was nice to meet you guys. You guys have some really nice cars. I should have come out sat night when you guys went to Porkys. Congrats on the numbers.
I will try to bring my car back up to run around the town with you. Steve tried to tune my car on sunday. It went terrible. My tec3r unit just wont work right, other than that Steve built a stong motor. I have junked my old unit and bought a Haltech platinum 2000 unit. I hope to have the car back in a few weeks. Then I should be able to hit my 650 to 700hp goal.
If you guys are ever looking for another shop to have work done. Try RS Motor. Its right off highway 13 just west of 35W. He has done all the wiring and tuning on my car, up to steves tuning on sunday. They do great fab work as well. My car will be up there this winter to get a full wire tuck and custom intake manifold done.
Ken, Im glad Steve got your other 7 to work.

It was nice to meet the group. I had some OK news toay. My project in CA was postponed a few more weeks. I'll be in town a while.
I was real impressed by the pump & methanol setups. It has me thinking again.
I found my oil leaks. My oil feeds to the front and center gears were not 100% tight. Just snugged them up and all better. Started running 15psi boost now I've got over 500 miles on it. Still itching for the big boost runs.
We wil see you guys on the Midway.

I still have the compression tester, scales, and a bank account that has $1,200 in it.
Unfortunately, I sold my house and everything is in a pod in storage until I find another house.
I have no need for anything as I am out of the rotary game (thankfully).
I will let you know when I am able to get at the stuff again.

Once the North Star group had a big event at my brother's shop in Blaine and he supplied all the food etc and it was a fun event. He has two hoists for people to put their cars on. With $1,200 we could have multiple events the next couple of years.
What do you guys think? We had a great event at MAP August 1st. That was a lot of fun.
Thanx,
Ken

I would love to turn everything over to other rotorheads and be done with it. The problem is, how do I decide who to give the compression tester, weighing scales, and cash to? I am sure there would be a line outside my door if I threw this out there.
I was watching the possible formation of a new club here in the Cities this spring with all the eamils flying in the Minnesota 7s thread. And, as expected, nothing came of it.
I wish some other former Midwest Rotory Rocket members/officers would pipe in.
As I see now, I can give this to charity car entity that helps provide autos for the needy, give it to more established Mazda clubs (Miata), or buy some nice shiny rims and tires for my MR2.
Brian
PS: Ken, and had a couple meet and greets and my house in Saint Louis Park three or four years ago. You never would stick around as you had to be the first one in line at Porkies.

Ya I remember now. You had great grilled burgers the last time I was there.
I would let the people decide. My choices would be people that are really into rotorys.
Andy has a shop in Coon Rapids and he was at the last tuning event. Danian who I have not seen for a whiile, but last time he was a rotory nut, or Bruce Lee who turned 500+ on the dyno at MAP.
I'm sure you can make your decision based on whatever you like.
I want to see something going as far as events. I remember you were a class act and whatever you do I would hope you would consider coming to the events that hopefully we will have.
Thanx,
Ken

I'm willing to pay you $100 for the compression tester, as long as it works and you show me how to use it. I'm still involved in the rotory community.
I can use it to let others get tests done.

Ken another option is the new Twisted Rotors compression tester.

The compression tester is not mine to sell.
I would have no problem turning the equipment over to you to use and assist fellow rotorheads. The equipment is in a pod in storage since I sold my house in April. I just signed a purchase agreement on a new one yesterday with closing tentatively Sept 30. So the equipment would be available early October.
If you remember, this is an analog compression tester that has a needle that shows the compression on a roll of paper. Nothing too fancy. And the scales are just normal bathroom scales with precisely made ramps that you drive onto and add up all four scales.
Turning the cash over to someone I have met a few times is another thing. I believe all the officers of the old club are gone. Maybe some input from rotorheads hear as to what I should do with the approximately $1,300 in funds that the old defunct Midwest Rotary Rockets has left over...

My vote is for Bruce Lee. He is one of three guys in Saint Paul that were at the tuning event. They are all young men(I'm 65 and dying faster then them. unless they do something stupid-like drag racing one the street).
They seemed to be hooked on rotories.
They will be in the community long after I'm gone.
Let's get this done ASAP. I want a GREAT get together before the year is up.

Jered with the 20B and I are going to have our cars dynoed at MAP in the next week. Maybe we can have an event there. They had a grill fired up last time. None of the food went to us guys. Maybe pay them to put on the party.
Jeez, let's do something, I'm retired and getting bored.
