Curious that I see this, a few months ago i was in Chicago on a road trip and my buddy was getting ink done down the street from Elite. Being a rotary nut I stopped by to see what was up, guy up front talked with me for a bit, I explained that I was a tech, and just curious about the operation they had going on. The guy did a lot of talking but that was it. At some point I figured it was harmless to ask to just see the shop, Ive worked at quite a few specialty auto repair shops and its not uncommon for customers to want to see the shop. The guy got real fidgety and nervous and said "I mean I guess you could. Give your phone to so and so though" and made me hand my phone to the cashier so I couldnt take pictures? Which I guess for like porting and such is important but it was still weird. So we went back and immediately all the techs were on edge as soon as they saw me back there, they seemed to loosen up a bit when I explained I was also a mechanic. Overall I will say that their showroom has this clean sterile feel to it, that the shop DOES NOT. It seemed like kind of a dirty shitty shop with cars crammed in every corner, many with plastic tarps over them. Not to mention the engine assembly room which contained a table covered in at leasty 40-50 rotor housings. Makes you wonder how they ensure that you get the rotor housings from your motor, and not someone elses worn out or edge worn rotor housings?
End of the day they rushed me in and out of the shop as quickly as possible, handed me my phone back and told me if I ever needed work done to come see them. I totally understand the idea of not wanting a customer in the back of the shop, but at least where I've worked I have a general understanding that the customer is usually excited to see their car, other cars being worked on, and as long as the guys not a dick or acting weird, I usually let them hang around and ask questions and chat for a bit. I wasnt expecting free reign of the shop but as a potential tuning customer you think you'd want to put out a little better introduction.

As a Fd owner since 1998 I have had my share of bad experiences with rotary repair shops. I once had to have my car towed from a Mazda dealer. The car was just too complex at the time for even some of there techs. I wont say that is the case now but was then. I finally found a shop I could trust and it is 5 minutes from my house si it is a blessing. I do alot of my own stuff but not everything.

Sounds like there isn't any shop in the Midwest that's recommended besides Banzai ? I spoke to Banzai (Chris I think) and he mentioned that they are booked almost a year out, and the best I can do is get myself on a waiting list to get it fixed when their schedule opens up sometime. Ideally, I want to take it to Banzai based on what I've read on this forum, but it looks like everyone has the same idea and hence why they are totally booked.
I don't mind the wait, but it would be great if I can have my boost issues sorted before the end of the summer and I was hoping someone has a recommendation!

For engine rebuilds, talk to Jesse Prather in Topeka KS. He has his own shop, Welcome to Jesse Prather Motorsports, and does a lot of different rebuilds for racers. He did my 12A.

They've now renamed to Rotary Parts World. Their website redirects http://eliterotaryshop.com/
On Google maps website goes to rotary parts world, and same google reviews are listed when it was still Elite.

New to the Club!
Lawsuit
WOW! That's a loss, I'm still finding **** he messed up on my car 4 yrs later. Did you check to see if he stole any working parts off your car like he did on mine, dude is a Thief stealing from paying customers. Honestly we should try and get a class action law suit against his shop. I'm talking to lawyers , you should do the same.

In 2021 I purchased $10,000 worth of parts from Sal, or whatever his real name is. He sent $3,000 worth and then told me the rest were "on hold" .. After 3 months of waiting I called AMEX, the credit card I used to buy it, and they told me I had 2 days left to dispute it! Sal would not answer or call back so I left a message telling him to call back or I'd reverse the charge. HE CALL BACK IN 10 MINUTES!!!
He promised he's honest and promised I'd get the parts and promised promised promised and even said, "Trust me" ... which is the sure sign of a liar.
So, I got off the phone with him - he thought he'd snowed me - and I disputed the charges. After 90 days I got my money back.
If you use AMEX you're only got, like 14 weeks or less! VISA gives you a longer timeline as does MC and DISCOVER but I'd advise you to see what those timelines are and dispute the charge or you're EFFED! Once I got a custom fishtank from some company in Wisconsin and they snowed me for 4 months and when I finally disputed it AMEX told me my timeline had run out and there was nothing they could do.
Sal and scammers like him will end up in hell where they belong - and I feel bad for you who got your money stolen by him. Yeah, don't do business with rotarypartsworld or whatever he's calling it there days
