Sorry guys but we have major issues with the date. May 22 is KU graduation. There is no way i can get the picnic area until it looks like June 11, a saturday. So everybody mark back your calanders. sorry about the change in date again. Man, and i thought organizing a BBQ would be easy. I am going to put money down to reserve the site on Monday so we will have a definite date.

C'mon guys, I think we're being a "bit" paranoid here. It is unlikely, especially in Lawrence, if you've been in any public gathering, that you were in an environment devoid of people high on something...

If some of the college guys want to take a long walk in the park and have a smoke, it's not going to reflect on everyone else. I think it has been made overly clear that reefer is not welcome anywhere near the gathering! Enough said. Unless we're all sitting in a circle in the middle of our cars toking clouds of smoke out of a big hooka would our gathering be implicated in anything related. Sheesh

To say you're not coming cuz someone there may be high is pretty naive. You better not go to work in the morning either or talk to the attendant at the gas station...

Again, no pot at the party! Not that we're a paranoid bunch a rednecks though...

(for the record, I'm one of the older "family guys" from KC. Don't act stupid and get us all busted and I won't sniff your clothes or examine your eyes... just bring your car so I can check it out! If you do act stupid, I'll leave. Simple!)

Great news everybody, the BBQ is official! i went down and reserved the picnic area after work today, it was $60 so people better show up! it is a beautiful park located just below the clinton lake damn, outlet park. if somebody can post a map on here with directions that would be great as i cant seem to do anything on this damn computer. directions are really simple, if you come from KC take 10 all the way down 23rd st. it will turn into clinton parkway and end at clinton lake. turn left go 1/2 mile or so and take another left, driving below the dam, go over the river and take another left and your there. first pic. area on your right, look for the 7's haha.
if you come from the turnpike get off at lecompton and take 10 bypass to clinton lake exit. and follow above directions. if you get lost ask how to get to eagle bend golf course, the park is very close to it, not ball hitting your car close, dont worry.
i need a design for the tshirt. i want a couple rotors framed with some wheat saying kansas rotary BBQ across the top, something like that. definitaly needs to represent KS, i like KS. any help is appreciated, i have a hook up to get the shirts made just no art program on the computer to design with.
i think i can manage to get burgers,hotdogs, pop, and chips if people can hook me up with a little cash at the event. more good news is they said kegs were ok!
so possible pony keg if i can afford it. if not i think i can get a few cases. so i think people just need bring your cars and a little cash if you want to eat and drink. i hope this turns out to be a great event and we have a nice day to work with. i look forward to meeting you all and your cars.

i'll definatley be there. i was working on a shirt design in art one day. i might scan it onto my friends computer and post it. i've also got a design for my own team's shirts if i can find anyone to join it. see ya all the 11th!

take of the rx-7. it makes the bottem line of words seem too long. other than that, it looks good dude. i've got some ideas too, but still need to put them on.

 

Unless I'm unaware of some new technology, I think all those colors would cost a fortune to put on a shirt.

Just use the 1 color rotor graphic and have it rising from some flames (or wheat)... or with a smoking chimney on it... something simple like that.

 

Midwest 7's- Do you think you can make a new post that will have the new date, along with other misc info as start time, end time, what to bring, etc.? Just to keep it less cluttered or better yet edit your first post to include all the finalized information.

As I said, is just a beginning so Midwest7 has something to go on. He is the one that is going to have the final say since he is the one organizing the event. Once he has seen it I'll see where he wants to go with it, thanks for the interest guys it looks like this is going to turn out to be a great gathering.
