OK, i have noticed a lot of people wanting to do a meet and i would be willing to organize one. Lawrence will be the location. 2hrs from wichita, 20 min from topeka
45 min from KC, 1.5 hr from pitt, 2 hr from salina. am i forgeting anybody? i figure lawrence is good and central, a nice medium sized town, real laid back. when is a good time for everybody? i figured the first weekend in june, that way everyone will be out of school. sunday afternoon at the lake, rent a big picnic area, ( with a big parking lot for burnouts, donuts, ect.) BBQ some burgers, brats, a keg or 2, some reefer perhaps? i could design and have some t-shirts made. i was thinkings something like 1st annual KS Rotary BBQ with a couple of rotors and then some waving wheat, something like that? anybody interested than post!
think how sick it would be to have 20 or so rx7s at the same place and same time?
who wants to come?

 

I'm in, definately. I'll be back in town by then and should have the 7 cleaned up and tuned.

For the shirts you should have a rotor with a hot dog going through it

That sounds kool. BBQ's are usually good draws. Art's BBQ in KC area last year must have had almost 20 RX-7s (most FDs) and a couple of RX-8s. I like the location too . Posting on KCRX7club.com should bring a few rotarys from KC. I'll be watching for more info.

 

This sounds great I will get the word out here in Junction City and Manhattan, who knows maybe I can get a a few people together and convoy upthere. Let me know what date you decide to do it on and what the cost involved is going to be. Can't wait to see how many are going to show up.

Great! Once this is nailed down I can get word out in the RX8 world. I

date would be sunday june 5th, noon to whenever. if we can get enough people to come by may 5th the plans will be made. that will give me time to reserve a site, have t-shirts made, exc. i say once 15 or so people commit it will for sure happen. $10 for food and beer sound ok? any funds that excede the amount to cover expenses will go to rx7 club. then maybe $10 for a shirt, i will get the design posted on here so people can tell me if they want one.

I would want to go, but I doubt I can make that weekend. I have an IT project application going to production that weekend. Therefore, I have to be onsite. I will play it by ear.

 

If this is such a great RX-7 store how come they don't seem to carry anything specific for the 1st Gen.

 

Most likely because the vendors who make 1st gen parts wont resell to another vendor. They would rather recoup the entire profit margin. How many 1st gen part suppliers are out there, and how large is that market? Supply & demand is the answer to your question.

 

Yeah thats true. Ur more likely to find parts for a 1st gen through the SCCA than places like rx7store.net.
