7" +40, yeah.

They're close, the 5 mm spacers would put me at +35, which should sit it well in the fender, I'm just hoping the axle stub clears. I suppose if it doesn't I can cut it down, it really doesn't accomplish anything.

i ran about 6mil of spacer prolly but the wheel was still really sunk and terrible offset. i am pretty sure i still ran front center caps with no issue. dude you shoulda gotten the non staggerd 17x9 +35 all around

There is no way on earth 17x9 would have cleared my suspension and fenders up front.

I didn't mind the offset on the front of my old wheels, and those were +35 or +38 ET, so the 5 mm spacer on the +40s will be the same as those. I only had 1.5-2 mm of clearance at the fender with those on there, and maybe 1/2" at the spring. I don't see any way that 1" more wheel would fit (the old wheels are 17x8").

I realize I can stretch the fender but I have nice paint, and I don't want much more than a 225 up front, as it's just rolling resistance when most of your time is spent aimed in a straight line.

im assuming you are on a stock shock spring set up if you are that close to suspension and the fender, also assuming you are running about 0 camber. i was running the 17x9 +35 spaced out 6mm so affective +29 that was to keep it off the suspension. obviously running pulled fenders as well and a 215 45 stretch

Well, not stock suspension, but stock style. Eibach Pro-Kit on KYB AGX struts.

I can't run those crazy stretched tires, they drive me nuts. Hell, I'm not even sure how to turn my car, I mostly drive in straight lines.

Rob,

It was nice meeting you today. Good luck with the new diff, at least I know it will die a valiant death.

And, on an utterly unrelated topic, I'm going to spam some pictures of my car on the new wheels (with the spacers installed).

It's soooooo much nicer riding on the new setup. Shinier too.

Hey Ft. Wayne area Rotorheads,

We finally have a definite plan for the October get together in Indy. Several local Rx-7 & Rx-8 owners are all going to be heading to the Rock & Roll Car Show in Greenwood, IN on October 18th from 12-6.

http://www.rock-n-rollcarshow.com/index.html
https://www.rx7club.com/midwest-rx-7-forum-32/laying-new-roots-indy-787871/page3/
http://www.indyrx8club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1724

Also, a several of us Indy Rx7 guys are going to meet at Bob Evans in Southport for breakfast at 9:30 before the show. After breakfast we are going to drive down to the car show as a group. I know that it's a little bit farther for you all to drive, but I think it will be worth your time if any of you can make it. This should be one of the last great events of the season, before the weather forces our cars into hiding.

This is the third year for the Rock & Roll car show. In 2006 they had 154 entrants, in 2007 they were up to 328 entrants. They have changed locations this year and have 700 parking spots available, if that is any indication of how big they expect it to be. We are hoping to have enough Rotorheads present to take the award for biggest club turnout.

Hope to see you all there. It should be a great time!

Jamie
