Its not all that great looking but take a look at my black FD. It isn't currently roadworthy with the all the changes I'm doing so locations are limited.

I used to buy these in bulk.. (seriously...) I would get them for like $15.. wear them out because of the clutches i used.. when they started getting weird, i'd throw them away.. and replace...
if i were to build another I'd set-up the clutch hydraulics using parts from an ford truck.. yaaay!!!
what shop did you take it to???
OH, and in a stock car.. they are a PITA to change...

i took it to north wells service center, they originally changed the clutch(oem) because i dont have the tools or workspace to drop a tranny, my slave was leaking before my clutch went bad so i changed it first then my master went bad after the shop worked on my car so i thought they would do it for free since they said it was good. oh well its done now and i should be able to drive my car more or less 50,000 miles before clutch stuff happens agin

You know Alex then? I still have some cleanup work to do. I have tried to follow manifold guidelines as best as possible with the space I had. Though the T04s housing dictated position a lot.
I have been looking at rims while I finish all of the other work I'm doing on the car. I have been thinking about 17x9's, FN01R-C's or maybe Works Emotion K CAI. Though I wish OZ made Ultraleggera's in 17x9 with the appropriate offsets.
Can't wait for autocross season next year. Oh by the way the failure I had at the last autox was the leading coil took a poop on me. I now have an MSD motorcyle coil in its place.

I guess not, Rolf. I wouldn't have been able to make it anyway. I have too many things going on currently. It may be a while before I can make enough time to meet up with you guys in the Fort again.

Ryan,
I've known alex for years.. awesome kid..
I really like the plenum section in the manifold.. most people don't think of that.. but it is really sorta needed... esp in a rotary.. with its above average normal EGT's.
leading coil.. good... MSD coils are nice.. although, i would consider a better direct fire set-up with batch fire, with a secondary trailing spark.. map the whole thing to make it more drive-able..
are you going to have alex build your DP as well?? I would If I were you.. 4" FTW..
I wish I could find a 3"out-let velocity stack that would be suitable for exhaust app.. something like .0625-.125 wall... i may just have to make my own..
Chuck

I have everything I need for the downpipe and will be doing that along with the rest of the exhaust system. It is setup for 3" already so no 4" plus man did the price increase on that piping. Though I will not be recirculating the WG so that should help. I just didn't have the mild to stainless wire to do the 44mm WG flange and a tig to do the welding on the inside of the flanges, so I sent it to Alex. I also am letting him use the flange locations so he can sell manifolds for the FD.
On the ignition I have a total of around 150 total into. Using a used MSD 6a along with the motorcycle coil. I was amazed at the difference in idle with the new coil. I am going to stick with it for now. Not looking for anything crazy with this setup anyway, just 400-420 whp.
I have a question for you do you think I will have issues with cracking with the divider being so thin where the two runners come together? I was thinking about grinding it down but was afraid it would disrupt flow too much.

I was actually thinking about that when i saw it.. I'll look at it again.. have you considered coating the inside of it??? just to help the material from absorbing so much heat.. and therefore heat-cycling more... causing the cracking..
so going with a single 44mm ewg? not bad.. I've always though that was the minimum.. you'll really like it..
Myfav set-up ever utilized dual 38mm.. when you shifted.. it sounded like a bull frog.. YAAAAY!!!!
so the WG line is divorced? is it doing to re-merge into the exhaust somewhere??
um..
ooh yeah.. i have an open GB on 5zigen FNo1Rc wheels..
17x9 +43 (the rear fitment for the FD, is the same as the STi for all 4 positions) can be had for sub $200 also got some deals going on Hankook street tires.. the R-S2's the ones Derek and I were using last season.. and will continue to use this season..

I actually was planning on wrapping the manifold. No coatings other than a high temperature paint to prevent surface rust. The wastegate is going to be open to atmosphere via a dump pipe to place the exhaust in a safe area.
Interesting deal on the FN01RC's. I actually do like the RS-2's, only problem is the last time I checked they didn't go over a 245's. What kind of prices do you have on the group buy? I really want the Ecsta MX's and run 275 in the rear. They just barely fit on a 9".
I think I will grind that down to a larger section. Doesn't take much work.

Hey Fritts nice looking pics of the car!! I don't have any new shots of the FD other than the ones on Banzai's site where you can almost see my new feed side skirts. I'll be in the line for the 99 spec front end as you did in a year or two, seems as though the market got it's hands on a C-west front end and now they're everywhere i.e. just saw an eclipse with it. the J-spec will look just right with my side skirts also. I picked up the Blitz front mount about a month ago and I'm sure it will look a lot better with that bumper as well.

sometimes distorting the contact patch is a good thing... can help to create some pseudo camber on a stock-class car which is not permitted to use camber plates, or camber bolts...
(the scca solo rules are so rediculously out-dated !!!! AHHH!!!!)
But i know what you mean..
If i were you..
I'd go 17x9 with 245's in all 4 corners..
why stagger them, you can rotate the set of 4.. and have much better tire-life... and a more streetible car.
