Flywheel Nut

Flywheel Nut
So I'm taking apart the motor and am already stuck. No one seems to have a large enough socket for this in my city..
Does anyone live around Janesville, WI who has a large enough socket and want to take a road trip? Haha.
Or know of alternate ways of getting the flywheel nut off?
The help is appreciated! Thanks.

If you don't have a compressor and a big impact.... but have it down to a short block, just remove the pan and take it to a shop that does. That's generally the only way it comes off.

I have one but look at Northern Tool if you have any in your area. They carry them as well as Fleet Farm. Northern has much better prices though. You'll also need a flywheel puller cause those things are impacted on to like 300ft/lbs lol

Sears has them TSC has them. If you have a breaker and a pipe then screw the impact. Ive done plenty w/o impacts or flywheel pullers. Rubber mallet will work 2 get the flywheel off. i thinks its a 2-1/8" or 54mm.

every sears ive ever been to has the socket.
its a 2 1/8th inch, but its a 3/4" drive, so get a breaker bar that size too if you dont own one.
ive taken apart/built 4 engines, and never had to use an impact.

I broke mine loose with the motor just sitting on the ground. I used a long piece of angle iron I had laying around to keep the flywheel from turning. Just drilled a couple of holes that lined up with a couple of the pressure plate bolt holes and used them (of course, the pressure plate needs to be removed).
2 1/8" , half inch drive socket (that I made for Toyota 4X4 spindle nuts), and a long piece of pipe on a breaker bar. I would definitely recommend the 3/4" drive after breaking one bar.
