Fasteners/Bolt/Screw Store Chicagoland AreaH

I am looking for a Fasteners, Bolts, or Screws store. Something to find those specialty bolts and screws you are dumb enough to drop on the ground and lose.

I usually go to mcmaster carr but I don't need 100 of these...just one.

Thanks.

I usually find what I'm looking for an an Ace Hardware. Are you looking for anything in particular?

I checked, they had half of what I need.

I need a M5 x .5 (M5 fine thread) as a threaded rod or a set screw. Basically something to make a longer idle adjust screw.

There is no Mid-States Bolt and Screw by your school fidelity, but if you know of that place I am looking for something like that.

There's actually a fastenal almost next door to where I work now. I guess I can check them out.

I think you guys don't understand how rare M5 x .5 is, which is why I am asking for a specialty store. Not a generic store.

I found a tap in that size for ya.

Why not tap it to a more common size like .8 or 1.0 and then you'll be able to source what you need.

Just a thought.

I have thought about that, but I am set on buying a tap n die set all at once to save some money. I am not quite ready to do that.

I can get threaded rod from mcmaster carr, but its $35 or so. Using it as my last option. The nuts I got from ace are also thinner so I may be able to sneak enough room and not need a longer set screw.
