Coming to Chicago for Lollapalooza... need a place to stay.

Greetings fellow members,

I am planning on coming to town for Lollapallooza and I am in dire need for a place to stay. My hotel "lost" my reservation and now they want me to pay 3x that amouint to rebook. All the hostles are full and unless I want to commute 40 miles there isn't a reasonable place to stay. All I need is a shower and a place to lay my weary bones.

Anyone here willing to hook me up for a couple of nights?

PS - I'd also like to go see the Cubs on Monday, I'd be willing to spring for an extra ticket if you'd like to go.

Thanks,
DKJ - Keith

haah weird. I just came back from houston today.

Didn't really see any of the import scene there, was hoping to see a 7 there. I saw one supra and a bunch of american cars.

I also saw the cubs game over there, your dome setup there is pretty sick. But ya sorry dude no room for you over here. Good luck though.

There is a pretty decent scene (check out www.houston-imports.com) but during the hot days of July everyone pretty much stays indoors.

Where abouts were you at, that might have something to do with it too... The RX-Club of Houston has about 300 known members around town.

Yeah Minute Maid Park is something else, did you get to see the train? Woo-WOO!! I hope we are closer to .500 before we come to town. I think we are only about a dozen games back currently.

Search along train stops for cheap stays in the suburbs. The train is $5 for the weekend, unlimited travel.

Got any recommendations for an out of towner? I'll do some looking, but I bet a local might have some ideas off the top of their head.

Keep in mind I need to be able to travel out of the downtown area at about midnight - 2 AM?

None of you guys are going to the show?

There's gotta be a couple members from the Chicago area that'd give you a place to stay. Have you thought about traveling outside Chicago for a hotel?

I may be going friday to go see Gogol Bordello...but I will be out of town most of that weekend. That and I live at my parents place so...I doubt they would be happy.

If I still had an apartment in Geneva then I would have been all for it.

Honestly I've considered it, but haven't really been interested in the idea of commuting more than about 20-30 mins from the show. (from Room to Gate)

We've spoiked ourselves the last couple of years and stayed at the Congress Hotel. We could actually hear the show from our hotel room (facing Grant Park) each time we stayed. I'd say it was roughly a 7 min walk from the hotel room to the fountain.

FYI - I'm not a total freeloader and would be willing to pay for my stay. Say $20 a night?

Yea, I understand about not wanting to commute that far. I know there's quite a few forum members in the Chicago area, so you shouldn't have that hard a time finding a place to stay. I would let you stay here but it's 3 hours away, and obviously that doesn't work. lol

i live within walking distance of the train (www.metrarail.com) but the ride would be more like an hour each way, plus about a 20 minute walk once you get downtown.
are you driving? flying in and renting a car?

Typically we fly into Midway, take the train down to the Loop and the hotel we usually stay at is only a few blocks from the station/Grant Park.

I see no need to rent a car since I won't be needing it over the weekend (I'll be at the show all day) it would cost nearly as much to park as it would to rent.

That leaves be back on the train which in most situations is more than adequate.

Well looks like I might have a place to stay in the Lincoln Park area.

Is anyone else planning to go to the show?
