the microtech is fine.
when the 32X32 comes it will be great but until then.
id rather deal with a slightly rich idle then stupid amounts of rfi+ computer defects and inconsistency galore. Welcome to the world of haltech.

That's funny because I never have those Haltech ECU problems you mentioned on any of the applications I do from 150-1300hp. Then again I see many friends having the same problems you mentioned above with their Microtech ecus but I'm much smarter than that because I know it's not an ECU problem may it be Haltech or Microtech but more so installation errors.
Probably instead of bashing other manufacturers to make your choice in ecu brand look good you should be more concerned about pleasing the customers that bought the Microtech by answering their questions with a legit answer into solving their problems and request.

Im sorry mate.
Have you looked through this forum? **** me if i have nearly answered every single bloody question in the microtech forum. And i would have sold a microtech to maybe 2 of them.....

You can crap on all you want about how your so experienced and im sure you are. But at the end of the day. my experience is difference. SO IM NOT PRODUCT BASHING. I am simply passing on my experience just like you have.
If you have had a bad experience with microtech that is great, i dont care, i dont own microtech, i dont make money from selling their stuff(sorry i lied, i make $25 bucks selling their stuff on my site), same applies with haltech.

You gona shoot me down cause i basically typed out my experience. I dont want to wreck a good thread, if you want to take some more shots at what i know etc do it in pm.

Also since you and rice racing are such great buddies.

maybe he told you about the motor that shattered a set of nrs seals cause of a faulty ECU, which haltech proceeded to pay for that rebuild.
**** me god knows how many people have had to deal with a faulty ecu and not known.
I have pictures of seals(or whats left), housings rotors etc. if your indoubt.

I somewhat agree. While the current Microtech is acceptable, it's not really fine. If the interpolation method the ECU used was better then the limited table would do the job. For example, the Megasquirt gets by with only a 12x12 table because it does proper interpolation between bins. With the Microtech, there seems to be little, if any, interpolation when you watch the injector times being calculated. It seems to be a hard switch between bins. Because of this, and in combination with the fact that we only have 5" of resolution, it's very hard to get a smooth running engine that makes good part throttle power and has decent fuel economy. If we had bins every 2", I wouldn't be making these statements.

Combine this with how the staging is done and the resolution available is effectively very poor. Small changes in bins make massive changes in AFR.

Then again, in my mind it's a good tradeoff to not have to deal with trigger issues common to many other ECUs. That's the only thing that keeps me in the Microtech world because frankly, the ECU is pitiful when compared to others in terms of resolution and features.

I wouldn't have this opinion if Microtech had made good on their promises to deliver 32x32, 3D timing tables, closed loop and save to disk. Those are the only features needed to make the Microtech the top ECU choice (in my opinion).

I partly agree. Many noise issues are due to crappy installation in my experience, but I've also had noise on Haltechs (and Wolfs, and Megasquirts, and etc.) I've installed where I have been absolutely meticulous in my trigger wiring. I tend to use top quality double shielded cable with a current drain, new connectors, physically separate harnesses, etc. and I've still seen noise with all ECUs except the Microtech. Whatever Microtech is doing in their VR conditioner, they are doing it correctly.

does that say 3D mapping, 1 out of 4 isnt bad. Kinda steap though.

The 3D map is just a way of viewing the matrix table. No changes can be made from it so it's usefulness is marginal.

Looking to hear on the status of high res, save to disk, closed loop and 3D timing tables on the LT8 series.

Soon I'm going to start considering swapping this backwards ECU with something more up to date like a Megasquirt. Currently the Microtech is the only mainstream ECU so far behind the curve. While it's a great ECU and almost always problem free (never have I had any trigger issues or had one fail to start first try) it is antiquated at this point regarding features that all other ECUs provide.
Just wondering, by closed loop do you mean closed loop fuel or closed loop spark?(not that closed loop spark is really usefull to us anyways)...

Unbelievable. And how do they morally justify this with themselves?

When I learned that Microtechs couldn't save maps to disk I was utterly stunned, and I knew I could never own a system with which I couldn't exchange maps easily. I know people hate on Power FC's but despite its limitations it still has no trigger issues, bulletproof injector staging, some basic closed loop functioning (usable only for those trying to pass emissions), and 20x20 maps with decent interpolation. So I'm relatively content with mine, despite its lack of programmable PWM or switched outputs, which is my biggest problem with it.

Apparently they never promised anybody it was being released.
Believe i got very upset and pretty much told them if i can help it, i will push other ecus and only buy yours if i am forced to.
Its a joke and i wont support a company that makes sales on lies.

This is preposterous! What a let-down. Looks like I'm gonna go to a different EMS with my next build...

It seems nothing more than a software issue, an extra line of code here and there .... It doesnt make any sense to not do the extra coding work unless they are trying to push another product. I cant wait to get my hands on one, I hear nothing but praise on this product except for the little problems listed above. I would love to see the code on this thing, I have a coder friend that just got laid off that could use something to keep him busy

I believe the reason they are holding back is they are going to release the lt16 soon. And its going to have all the new features. Basically if you want the good features, your going to have to pay the extra $1000 bucks. Might as well have gone motec etc from the word go.

What is truly upsetting about Microtech was that on their own forum, it was brought up (again) and "crying mummies boy" is all that the MT employees could say, are they completely clueless?
