Voltage

Im reading about 12.63 to 13.02 volts on the hand set .
At the alt Im getting 13V I hooked up a set of jumper cables Frm my van that was reading 14 at the batt and I still gor 13.56 on the handset.
also when I turn on the headlights the Air fuel goes lean Soo Is it a Alt problem or do I need a larger guage wire to the Microtech.

And why isn't it like 14v

Thanks

Johny

if you measured directly off the alternator and it didnt register 14V+ you either have a bad earth in the car(put an extra earth strap from chassis to block, and chassis to battery-). And then if you still dont have good voltage. Alternator is not working correctly.
If its an FD alternator it should be big enough, which means its either wrecked or not working correctly.
Have you wired it correctly?
What year model is your FC?

Sorry for disturb, but is my display here normal.
My instrument is always at maximum 16 volt, but you can see the right digits at 13,44 volt.

Is that normal? Do you have the same software bug?

Accessories dont mean anything mate.

The only earths THAT COUNT.

are.
Chassis to block.
Chassis to battery.

IF you dont have ATLEAST one of these 0 guage your earth system isnt very good.
If you are using smaller wire. Running 2 of each is recommended.

Did you rewire your alternator when you fitted it into your car?
It needs to be wired to a relay otherwise it wont charge correctly, it will flatten the battery, and burn the regulator.

That diagram shows the Terminal L to go to the dash.
Depending on your car some of them will operate the regulator in the alternator correctly.
Does your car automatically start charging when you start it? or do you have to pump the accelerator to get it to start charging?

Are your Reds coming on the dash when car is off and in ignition? and do they switch off once the car is running?

The car starts charging as soon as I start it. And if Reds mean warning lights they turn on and off with ignition.

I took the alt to a reputible shop today. It tested good about 14 volts he load tested up to about 125 amps.
So I reinstalled it and resoldered all my connections and added/ replaced ground from fire wall to engine . Problem solved 14 to 13.2 no matter what I have on.
Thanks rx72c
Not trying to be a nut swinger but its nice to have people actually interested in helping not just flaming

hahahah.
Their would have to be alot of tunes to make it worthwhile to come to the states.
lol
Maybe soon.

Anyways good to hear your problem solved. youll be shocked how many electrical problems end up being a bad earth.
If i was you.
I would add another earth strap from battery to chassis and one more from block to chassis.
Youll notice all your electrics will work even better.
