Programming LT10

I am trying to help my friend get his LT10s tuned for his engine. I can't seem to get my laptop to connect to the ecu though. I have a built in serial port on my laptop but when I try to connect with the software it won't. I saw that some people are using an adapter or something to connect to it? Is there another method (cross over serial cable?) that works to connect to the microtech?

Are you using the microtech dongle? You can not just connect a serial cable from ecu to your laptop. U have to use the dongle.

no dongle. He didn't get one with the ecu. Nobody has reverse engineered the dongle yet? can you open up your dongle and take a picture of the guts inside?
