burned my microtech :(
Well I plugged my battery in today and no power to my microtech. I start investigating and find that the x4 box is smoking out of the 5 wire loom. I freaked and then started investingates further. I thought for sure it was something having to do with the x4 box along with something I might have wired wrong on the leading side because the leading crane lx92 coils also have 2 crane fireball amps. I thought for sure it was something in the way I wired those up to the microtech that fried the ecu however after taking the curcuit board out I found that the traces on trailing 1 and 2 where burned ???? The trailing coils where easy to hook up I thought with the orange and orange/black wires going o the negative of the coils and then the pink wire (12volt ign.) going to the positive. How the hell can you burn up something that simpe. I checked my wiring and it's right. I don't get it. Anyone have any ideas?
Also was wondering if the lt10 box will come on without the x4 box? I opened it as well and didn't see any burned traces or anything so thats good but it won't turn on with the ignition. Maybe it needs the x4 box?

Check on the main microtech loom.
3 things you have to check.
Check that the pink wire has 12v+ on ignition
Check that the red wire has 12v+ all the time.
check all brown wires to make sure they have earth by doing a continuity test.
If all of the above checks out and your microtech dosnt switch on computer is damaged.
Next.
If the X4 has melted or burnt something.
It has either shorted out via coil packs OR your earth wire is not grounded properly. the earth wire should be grounded on the block.

Thank you for being the man and helping me out I cut the black and red wire close to the ecu and spliced in wires to go to the relocated battery in the storage bin. Well this didn't provide enough ground to start the mt. I ended up adding another ground and all went well. I'm still confused about the x4 ground. If I grounded it to the engine bay and not the bock will that kill it? Thanks again for the help man I owe you!

i am from the island.
when you ground through the chassis. if the car hasnt got an excellent grounding system it will try and route all the current through the x4 box which will burn it, so as a safety precaution you run it directly to the block. will never have a problem.
also microtech will turn on without x4 box.

lol I'm scared to death I'm going to burn this thing up again. Here is a pic of how I've got the grounding, is it ok now? The engine ground I just added goes from a bolt on the front housing to the body. The x4 ground goes from the ecu to that ground at the engine on the font housing.

Diagram is good. The connectors you are using, are the soldered to the wire? not just crimped?
make sure you solder them and your done. fire it up. if it burns this system its not your fault.

THanks, so far it's not burned I'm not soldering the connections though, I'm using those but splices etc... that have the built in shrink tubing. I use those on all my electrical connections.
