the first thing that comes to mind if you have a first gen are to check the fusible links. let me know what year car you have.

If it turns over but you don't smell gas the motor might be blown. You should get a compression check

i know and understand how the rotaries work, but my real world jobs have always been on diesel engines. an engine's an engine though and it always needs three things to run, fuel, air, and source of ignition. best of luck

if it's not cranking at all, check your battery connection, ground for the starter, and the fuses and relays. if those are good tap on the starter motor with a hammer and see if it cranks. if it cranks then there's a short in the starter, if still nothing, then your starter's completely shot lol.

just out of curiousity, why'd you ask me? best of luck man

if the fuel system's good then check the ignition system. even though you changed the plugs the wires or even the coils can be bad. with electronics always start with the last known part and work your way back. start with seeing if the plugs have a spark by pulling them out of the housing and touching them to a bolt on the engine bay. pull the fuse on the fuel pump (that's something else to check is all of your fuses and relays) so it won't start but crank it and you should be able to see the spark on the plug. next check continuity with the ohmeter function of a multimeter. if the cable is good it shouldn't have many ohms of resistance at all. if you get that far and still can't find anything let me know, cause the coils are a pain in the ass to check.

is the engine cranking but not firing? if so check that the fuel pump is working by turning the key forward, you should be able to hear it. if not have someone else crank it while you pull the fuel line from the fuel rail. if it starts spraying out fuel your pump is good but if not, i'd change the fuel filter first and check again before changing out the fuel pump.

Hey man, sorry i can't help much I dont know too much about the non turbo models. But for starters you have to make sure you have a few things working. Spark and fuel! Does the motor sin freely when trying to start it? You gotta check for spark to make sure its firing, and you should smell the fuel if its getting any. Other than that i couldnt tell u where to begin. Search on the non turbo sections for all the help you need.

Oh no not at all. I had always been interested in cars, but it wasn't until I was turned on to rotaries by my husband when I really got into them. It was love at first sight for me and rotaries!
