Well there's no turning back now. I have just ordered my MSI.3 with error board and stimulator plus the new loom and connectors. So i guess i have officially joined the club.

Actually, I've heard differently on both of the things that you say.

I have tuned and installed many microtech units before on other projects, if I can have the same success with using a MS on the 13b then that would be great because the cost saving would be huge. This project isn’t my first and it certainly want be my last, I have also just purchased a Toyota AE86 that will be turbo charged with new ecu also. It would be great to have success with the MS on the 13b that could then be applied to other project in the near future.
It was the first car to run wasted spark with ms2/extra (probably the first with ms2 without EDIS).
I also use my rx7 as a test car for ms2/extra, and it was the first rotary to run ms2/extra.
Point being, the MS (ms2/extra or ms1/extra) can run just about anything if you take the time to set it up right.

Hey Bodybeach one thing that I have learned about this forum is that you have to stir up ppl's emotions in here to get a good answer to your questions. It's just a psychological approach to it. Otherwise you will just be directed to the FAQ or get a one sentence answer. Once you stir them up you will get tons of info. So for now on start your thread as Megasquirt SUCKS because.... lol
People give the one sentence answers because most of the time their questions are answered in the FAQ and manual. That's what they're THERE for.
If you have a problem that's not answered there, then most often, everyone is more than happy to give a longer answer.

You are 50% right. However the FAQ should be updated frequently for newer forum member and should be explained in a more comprehensive manner for those who don’t habla in technical fashion. But that’s just the way I think, out the box. If I had not run into problems with my install I would had done a write up a long time ago. Something that someone with you knowledge should have done a long time ago. Please don’t take it in a bad way. If I have offended you I would like to apologize upfront. But it’s just the way I think. Megasquirt was not made for rx7's. If it had been then we wouldn’t have to do any mods to the board. I think a step by step thread is in order here to make this an effective forum. Again this is just the way I think.

About a 2 months ago I heard he was tuning MS. Never talked directly to him though.
In any case, I know of at least 1 person I'd trust (other than me, and before Steve Kan) to tune just about anything. I've mentioned him before on here, but I'll mention it again. Scott Clark at Spectre.

I've tried to make it as simple as possible, making sure that all the options are outlined, and pictures of all the necessary mods are there, but you have to do some of the research yourself. If you don't understand the circuit diagrams, look them up... If you don't understand megasquirt basics, read the megamanual... the whole thing. You'll be glad you did when you're done.
With all the coding I do, and other work for the megasquirt community, I don't have time to update the FAQ in any kind of regular fashion. I still try to help out on the forum in any case, and plenty of people still manage to get their cars up and running with what I've already done.

muythaibxr What you have done for the rx7 community has helped greatly .
"thank you"
I have read the mega manual front to back , up and down but when it comes down to it is that there is so much info out there its hard to compute it all. Thats why the FAQ thread is so helpful. I followed it and it worked. What else can people ask for?

it's not something that needs a step by step guide. If you need a step by step guide then you're not ready for megasquirt. I've personally had many many problems with my megasquirt. A few broken traces here and there from my formerly bad (non-existent) soldering skills that caused my hours of bashing my head on the desk trying to figure out why one of my injectors wasn't working or why one of my LEDs wasn't working.
In my view All of the standalone units cost the same. Megasquirt = Haltech = Motec etc. With megasquirt, while the dollar price is low, the cost in man hours and troubleshooting makes up for the dollar difference compared to off the shelf ECU. A Microtech you just build the wiring harness, plug it up, and tune. You essentially just wrote a check for all the troubleshooting and testing that unit goes through before being sent to the end user. I chose megasquirt as an educational project and the low cost made it that much more appealing and accessible to me. I WANTED to troubleshoot and learn. Right now I can build and troubleshoot a MSI v2.2 with my eyes closed. I'd do the install right now for $150 above material cost for someone local if they wanted. I'd be happy to be up to my neck in ECU builds.

Second if u really have to rely on steve to change you're oil maybe you shouldn't be taking on a project like ms (I am being sarcastic) but on a more serious note to a large degree the ms w/Mega Log Viewer, tunes itself maybe not to a degree that steve can of course but it isn't very hard to get it to a stock like tune. And if you're ms is still ""(not installed yet)"" maybe you should get past that point before you bash it to much,,cause once you are over the hump of figuring it all out u might fell like taking some of what you posted back! What i mean is at first ms is very intimidating and some of the info is some what scattered across this forum ms's forum and MegasquirtnSpark-extra you 100% have to do a lot of research and if if don't, the whole learning process is useless.""Nothing good comes easy""
You posted that whole """Post your Megasquirted 7 Videos"" thread over a month ago and u still have not got it installed? What are u having problems with?
Really ac links i would much rather encourage you to finish you're ms than read you're post bashing something you have not yet completed, now stop typing and start soldering!

lol I can really appreciate what your saying twister. But I'm not trying to bash. My MS will go on my car soon. My MS is complete. I even made a plug and play harness a month ago I just haven’t had any time to install it. I'm not asking for help in doing it. I gave up on that more than a month ago. lol My 7 sits in the garage most of the time. Its just a toy and I take it out on meets like the one we had last week at the beach an hour and a half ride form where I live. Here are some pics. https://www.rx7club.com/se-rx-7-forum-35/%2A%2Apost-your-cocoa-beach-pics%2A%2A-686775/

There is no step-by-step because there are many ways you can do it.
