That's where you can get megatune. However, it appears the site is down right this second.

For the ignition tables, I just used a combination of the stock tables from a stock ecu, and I used the 8x8 table on the rotary megasquirt page:

http://www.msefi.com/msinfo/manual/rotary.htm

Some of the info in that page is outdated, but the spark table (thanks renns) should still be good if you turn it into a 12x12 table.

For the VE table, just let megatune autogenerate one for you, and go from there. That's what I did. The engine ran like crap at first, but the more I tuned it, the better it got (duh).

The hardest part of using the megasquirt (in my opinion) is the initial wiring and installation. Once you have it all wired up right, tuning it shouldn't be that hard.

This aspect cannot be overstated! It only takes a few minutes and a few $ more to Do It Right ref the wiring, connectors, etc. Attention to safety costs nothing and is often just thinking ahead a little bit; for example I power the fuel pump, injector + and the coil + by the fuelpump relay. If it ain't running, these are powered down and cannot leak, catch on fire, overheat, etc. If they do leak, catch on fire, etc., the engine stalls and powers things down automatically, limiting damage. I also place the entire fuel and ignition on a master switch/relay so I can completely pull power from all the potentially dangerous stuff via a console switch. Good theft prevention, too, if properly placed!

the above would be perfect in a visual schematic layout for the electronically newbies.

That contains probably 85-90% of what you need to get your wiring done, and contains good tips for newbies.

you have to edit the settings.ini file in your mtCfg directory so that it has MSNS_EXTRA set, and you have to #unset all the other code options.

Then you have to get a version of the msns-extra.ini file from the version of the firmware you want to run and put that in the mtCfg directory.

Finally, you probably want to get a later beta version instead of just 2.25 from the link I posted above.

When generating an VE table why will it not generate a table unless the estimated max torque (ft/lb) is greater than the estimated peal horsepower?

that's not how it works. It won't generate a table that doesn't make sense...

Basically it's calculating the torque based on the hp you specify at the rpm where you specify the hp, and if that value (the calculated torque) is higher than the value you specified for maximum torque it won't work.

it won't generate a spark table, you have to do the research and generate that yourself.

I'll post what I'm using later on today... but for my table, keep in mind that I haven't actually tried to drive in all parts of the table.

go to setup.ini, and where it says #set MSI, change that to #unset MSI and then change #unset MSNS_EXTRA to #set MSNS_EXTRA

This file will be in the mtCfg directory of whatever directory you installed in.

After that, once you restart megatune, it should be fairly easy to find the spark table.
