GB:RE-A Style GT Wing

The sample has arrived and will be test fitted these couple days. Results will be posted as soon as they become available.
We will do our best to push them out asap. So if the test fit results do not require major modification to the molds, the production can start very soon. We apologize for the delay but we have to make sure it fits before start producing in quantity.

Alright here are the test fit pics. In case some of you wondering why the side plates were not installed during the test fit. Two reasons: First, the test fit was just to verify the fitment and quality of the wing. Second, we want everyone be able to tell that this is our wing instead of the original since we are using the same car for test fitting of both wings.

Thanks for the support!
1) The wing is approximately 1650 mm wide from end to end.
2) Are you talking about the surface finish of the mounting flaps? If so, no, we will not put a clear coat on them because clear coats will crack very easily due to the fact that the screws are putting stress on the pieces and will cause the surface coats to crack after time. The purpose of applying clear coats is to protect the CF from UV exposure but since these mounting parts are below the wing and are not exposed to UV as much so clear coat is not as necessary.
One change we will be doing to the mounting flaps is to thicken them. The original version seems to be a bit too thin for serious tracking application so we will be thickening them for a more stable and long lasting mount.

EXCELLENT!!!!!!!!! I can't wait to see the test fit on the FC. I'm very interested to see what direction was chosen for the mounting braces! So far it looks good though.

Sure could have used it last weekend at Infineon.....may have helped stop my spin out of turn 6.....almost shat myself. Got a lovely view of what the hill looks like travelling backwards towards turn 7....whee!
Updates?

Just a note to the FD guys when installing this wing, the notch part in the back of the bracket should be over the tail light, that is the reason why it was built that way so that when you close the trunk it wont hit the tail lights...
If you look at the picture it is too far forward..
Wing looks good, starting to miss mine...

Beast, glad to hear that you got some exciting time at Infineon. Hopefully no more backwards views after you put the wing on. Gd luck with your future events!
The batch production on the wings have just started and will be continued after the holiday. Since we are having a fairly large batch produced, it will take at least 2 -3 weeks to complete. Meanwhile, the machine shop will also start producing more FD brackets while waiting on our fitment confirmation or necessary design changes on the FC brackets. They will probably also become ready by the same time when the wing production is done.

I recently picked up an Authentic full CF RE-Amemiya wing like the one they are replicating and thought I'd post my thoughts on it after driving wingless at VIR Saturday, RE-Amemiya wing at VIR Sunday. I have no affliation with JKL other than purchasing a few parts from them, but I'm sure there version will perform the same as this one.
One thing I should mention is that I have the taller brackets than the one in the video and the one being replicated. I drove all day Saturday with no wing at VIR and the car has always started to feel really light around 120mph, almost to the point that it makes me uncomfortable(that is any FD that I have driven on a track). I drove all day Saturday, picked up the wing Saturday evening from Fritz(who strongly urged me to put it on the car that night), put it on the car, and drove on Sunday with the wing. Before I can even say anything, my passenger comments on how incredibly stable my car feels going through the uphill esses's at around 110mph. I can feel it start to stablilize the car around 80mph and get progressively better as speed increases. I was expecting front end lift, but did not encounter any and reached speeds of around 140mph. I will still be adding a splitter though for extra downforce. Here are some pictures of it on my car to give some of you an idea of what it will look like without a widebody kit. Keep in mind that my brackets are prob. 6-9inches taller than the ones being made by JKL. A couple of pictures:
And yes, my exhaust is hanging low in the picture because it came out of the bracket. I had to safety wire it after that session to keep it in the bracket . The stock black piece is off the bottom of the rear bumper because I am adding the RE-A street diffuser. If anyone would like to see some more pictures, and JKL doesn't mind, just let me know.

Bracket height differential = ?
What is the collective wisdom about the fact that that JKL brackets are lower than many other wings out there? I'm sure that if a wing is too low it is out of the slipstream and unable to function optimally, and convesely if it is too high it likely mucks with the handling/weight/effectiveness of the wing. Someone skilled in aero/fluid dynamics please respond, not someone who says 'it will make it mad quik, yo'.
Memphis, that wing really matches the esthetics of your car - that's a very clean machine, unlike my multi-colored due to fading red Beast (shiny red hood and fenders, dull red roof, pink mirrors). I also agree on your comments about lightness after 120mph, and I have the R1 model with wing, hitting around 147 mph on the front straight at Thunderhill. Would really like to gain the stability you mention......

Bracket height does affect the performance of the wing depending on what car you are attaching the wing to. For a sports car such as FD with a more aerodynamically efficient top, specially rear hatch area, the clean air zone is much lower as compared to a sedan type rear design, such as a BMW. In other words, our car can have a wing mounted much lower and still perform well as compared to other less streamlined cars.
BTW, just got the FC prototype brackets today. We have arranged an FC for test fitting but the car is currently in a body shop so if any other SF bay area local FC is willing to show up for a quick test fit would be more than helpful. Just shoot us a pm or email to let us know your availability. Thanks!

I'm just drooling to see the test fit pic's on an FC!!! LOL. Hopefully someone local is willing to show up for the test fit, I'd do it, but I would have a lovely cross-country drive to get there.
