Hello everyone,
After spending hours, days, weeks, looking up rx7's I've decided to finally become a member here and try to develop my knowledge about rx7's futher. My plan is to buy an FC, specifically 88-90. Its a difficult search though. I'll be going upstate to look at one, but its got some rust under the driver side door, and im worried about even going to see it.
My dream is to make a LS1 swap. I am mechanically inclined, I know it will be difficult, but thats what I want. Right now, Im just looking for a shell/running rx7 (anything really, since I cant find anything thats within my budget- i dont want to spend 4 grand on a car that im going to be ripping the egine out of anyway)
So yeah, thats whats up

Thanks guys. I've been houdning craigslist like a MF-er, its pretty empty right now, but 3 hours away I found a 86 gxl that I think im gonna jump on. Its a pain that its 3 hours away, but I hope the guy gives me straight answers on the condition of the car(rustwise) so I dont waste my time driving out there. He says it runs, so hopefully for a couple hundred short of a grand I'll snag that and start cleaning it up until the summer...where the real fun starts >

I still cant find one, that guy i thought I had to definitely sell me one never got back to me, and even for that i'd have to figure out how to bring it home 200 miles :/
I cant believe how hard it is to find one for a reasonable price around me

Thanks guys
So I found this 1990 GTU near me. Its automatic though, and the owner says the tranny is garbage, it works but slips. Im going to test drive it soon but im wondering if I need to worry about the fact that its automatic if im going to be doing a LS1 swap. I know this may sound stupid, but Im not entirely sure and who else to ask besides you guys.
My questions are: Is all I need to worry about for the LS1 swap (since its automatic) the cluth pedal installation, and obviously removing the automatic shifter setup and replacing that as well? Is the rearend of the GTU's any different between auto and manual? This guide says I would have to: https://www.rx7club.com/2nd-gen-archive-72/complete-automatic-manual-conversion-write-up-201102/
Is there anything else I need to look into considering its automatic and I NEED to have a manual?
