PA Re-introducing myself...new motivation.

Greetings all,

I'm Ron, 32, from Pittsburgh. Whilst in high-school and college some 12 odd or so years ago (has it really been that long?!?!) I became just addicted to the look of the 3rd gen cars and the rotary engine. I actually wrote a 11 page term paper on the rotary engine while in college. Pity the English teacher who had to read THAT!

Anyway when I was 16-23 or so I was just in love with these cars. I had pictures taped to my walls I cut out of every import mag I read, models, diecast, etc. I never had the funds for one and once the real world kicked in I had to park the dream and never managed to buy one. I just lost my father this past week pretty unexpectedly and my motivation to get one is coming back. My dad was always a car guy and has owned more cars than I can count. Vettes, Fire Birds, etc etc. The day he passed I went out and sat in his garage trying to figure out what the hell just happened and I kept thinking to myself that his tools and garage just won't be the same without someone in there, working on something.

A 3rd gen 7 has always been my dream car and I like to think he'd be proud looking down on me tinkering with a project car in his garage and putting his tools to use. So I'm thinking I need to have a heart to heart with myself, get serious, and start putting money together to try and find one to park in his garage and work on. Financially I can't afford to buy mint car and that's not really my style anyway so I'm hoping in the next year or so I can put together enough funds to haul home a project car and give it a go. I'll be lurking on here reading and studying until that day comes but after what just happened I'm realizing more and more that now is the time to make it happen.

I look forward to learning everything I can from you folks and hopefully someday WillOwnOneSomeday....WILL OWN ONE!

Best wishes to you all,

-Ron

I'm sorry for your loss, but glad to see you wanting to honor the memory in such a manner. Doing so will bring you great satisfaction in more ways than one. Good luck with your search.

Laughed out loud at that! In my case if/when I get one it doesn't have to be done on any time schedule. I've got a garage to keep it in and if it sits on jack stands for 5 years it doesn't matter. Just to have the car of my dreams, running or not, to work on would be awesome. It also gives me an excuse to come up home to see my mom and not have it seem like I'm worried about her after what has happened. Obviously not the wisest way to spend my money but it's been my dream to own one forever so why the heck not.

I took this up to keep my hands busy and my head from thinking about other things that would get me in Trouble.
I noticed that I had no tools..I now got Doubles,triples of 10mm wrenches,sockets,screw drivers,jack stands,floor jack..7 tool boxes..full of " I may need that tool some day".
It's nice to be young when you start an endeavor like this, but when you are like I am you just wanna get it done..so you can drive it!..lol!
anyways,Good Luck again..Welcome and have fun!.
