Old new guy here..........
Name is Larry. And old fart who lives in Waycross, GA.
These are my 1988 Mazdas:
My Anniversary Edition Turbo II at the Turn 3 corner station at Roebling Road. It has a '91 nose and tail lights:
My 1988 929 with a 5 speed manual tranny. It's the only one I have ever with a manual tranny:
Both of them:
I apparently can't put that in my first post.

Someone had special ordered it and I guess his wife raised cain about it and he canceled the order.
You had to special order the manual tranny.
My kid is grown with a kid of her own.
I keep telling her that I hope he acts just like she did.
As for the car, it's a very nice cruiser, all original with about 234k on it, except the MOMO wooden steering wheel. I have used Mobil 1 in it for a long time and it just purrs.
The main reason I have kept it is the manual tranny. All my personal vehicles are manuals, including my Frontier. My company vehicle is an auto and I hate driving it.
It did have leather and I still have the seats stashed and maybe get them re-covered one day, but the cloth seats out of another 1988 929 are very nice and in great shape.
I have a catback exhaust, not real loud, but enough to let the V6 growl and it has a lot of low end torgue.
I also got some Racing Beat springs for it looooonnnng ago in order to lower the nose. If you notice stock ones in that body style, the nose is all up in the air.
My understanding is that they did that so they would understeer more easily than oversteer and most people can deal with understeer more easily than oversteer.
Personally, I like to be able to induce a little throttle oversteer every now and then.
I thought it looked like crap and didn't like the way it handled, so I lowered the nose a good bit and the tail just a little. It's not ground dragger and I like it like that.
I also have a set of Racing Beat springs stashed for the Turbo II but have never put them on. It sits low enough as it is.
